@johnlyons have you tried using a colour shaper (brush with a rubber tip in a variety of shapes) for green stuff? I find the give in the tip really helpful for smoothing and teasing green stuff into non flat surfaces compared to metal traditional sculpting tools.

For those tiny gaps, you can avoid the work of using greenstuff. There is a product called vallejo Putty ( http://www.snmstuff.co.uk/vallejo-plastic-putty-20ml-tube/ ), its white and comes in a tube. Squeeze a bit out and fill the gap, it doesn;t matter if you have a bit extra. Then you wait about 5 minutes for it to start to set up. Because its water soluable, you can then use a damp cotton bud and wipe across the joint and the excess will just wipe away and leave just a line of putty in the gap.
