Matte Coating Your Miniatures

We look at the process, a tricky one at that, where you are able to Matte Coat your miniatures using the spray from Army Painter.
Make sure the conditions are right for this as it could make a big difference in the outcome of your miniatures.

Never dared stray from Testors mat varnish, never tried AP.
I have used The Army Painter’s matte coat spray to finish several batches of minis. They all turned out great even when I sprayed on a cold and damp 40F degree Chicago day. Great stuff! I am a customer for life.

I was wondering what happened with the backside of the miniatures, until I have seen that he was turning back them to apply another coat.

you can prevent frosting when you let the miniatures dry for at least 24 hours as well 🙂

Use matte varnish all the time
Way to go Laura – give her some more models to paint guys!
I like to use a matte varnish and then go in with a brush with gloss varnish to touch up anything that should be reflective such as eyes and wet/slimy surfaces. The mixture of the two I find really helps those details pop
Frosting also happens when it is cold, or the can is cold.
I do always shake my can, soak it in hot water in the sink and then shake again and ready to rumble.
