Flames Of War 4th Edition Boot Camp: Day Two
Masking Techniques With Will
We are looking at some interesting masking techniques which you can use with spraying. We've talked about this over the last few weeks on The Weekender.
We shall see how this pays off tomorrow and if the technique is worth giving a go yourself.
Isn’t that the stuff that gave rise to Aliens in Prometheus? 🙂
Is it any better than blutack?
thanks for this video i will try and use this technique it looks really good
loving all these videos and content keep up the good work
i dont know if john will see this but what reenactment group were you in ? i love going to reenactments there was a really good one at tankfest
Can’t wait to see how this turns out.
Always on the look out for new masking material for airbrushing
Neat stuff, will be interesting to see how it turns out.
Panzer Putty. Good to know.
any idea where it’s up for sale ? I had not heard the name correctly 🙂 thanks for writting it down.
it’s actually silly putty, which is a toy from silicon bromide (I think) The one there is https://www.amazon.co.uk/Science-Museum-Putty-Colour-Varies/dp/B001F36OOW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1488748780&sr=8-1&keywords=science+putty
Some companies sell “Panzer Putty” which is the same stuff but costs about three times the price.
Ive always used blutac, principally on my jagdpanthers. Wonder if this is any better.
I think so, but some people say blu tack does just as well, I think the patterns you can do with this can be much much finer, along with the low tack and no residue means you’ll never ruin your paint work underneath.
Yes good to know – now to find out where to buy..
Please be mindful of the mikes. I can hear John loud and clear, but not William.
Might have to find some Panzer Putty to give it ago, looking forward to seeing the result.
Hey John add that Panzer Putty to John’s Tool. I know you want too have a go
have to look for that stuff.
Need to buy this putty!
I hope the camo turns out good for him
Panzer Putty is a great tool for 2 color camo. Looking forward to seeing how they come out.
I’ve never heard of panzer putty. Is it different to silly putty, or just rebranded?
rebranded, that tub is just silly putty.
Kewl, want to see how this turns out.
I’ll have to try that Panzer Putty stuff when I get to my Grants.
I used Silly Putty for my camo on my Team Yankee models.
Great stuff! Been using blutac for awhile and the results are great and it’s eay to clean up. Panzer Putty sounds even better. Gotta give it a look see.
Wow I didn’t realize it was so, runny isn’t the right word, but it seems a bit more viscous than silly putty.
wanna see the reults
Would really like to see some photos of the results as I’ve only ever seen masking used with an airbrush, not a rattle can.
Don’t see why, especially at 15mm scale, it should’t be very effective and simple for the Camo paint scheme. Shading etc. sure – an air-brush would be necessary, but flat camo paint…
this is my “hobo airbrush” cheap and cheerful paint job.
