Hard At Work
The work continues with a lot of the Boot Campers working on their massive amount of tanks and choppers they have. It's like a proper Soviet factory in here...
Which side would you have picked; Soviets or US?
Nice land armada gathering.
I would feel completely overwhelmed with a such large number of tanks and choppers to assemble and paint. 😉
Have to say the US!! But damn that helicopter the Ruskies have is awesome. Bring on the A-10 Warthog!!
Well you know as they say @kieffer “For Mother Russia” 🙂 Warsaw Pact would be my choice
Is the warsaw pact focused on Quantity over quality?
I do not know how it looks in the game @ancientsound but historically quantity would be the right answer (but let’s face it… not all that Russians manufactured was cr*p thou my fav example is the anti-radiation paint that had this flaw that it did not withstand water)
Not exactly. In a few cases, in particular M1 vs T-72A and A-10 vs SU-25, the US does clearly have superior gear, although in both cases the Soviet gear is still very effective and a fair bit cheaper in points. However, in a lot of cases, the Soviet and US gear are very different in how they operate on the battlefield, with neither being clearly superior. For example, the Cobra is mostly a long-range sniper that can swoop in for a rocket barrage or gatling gun run. The Hind, on the other hand, is meant to get stuck in, possibly… Read more »
crap how can you change from thumbs down to Up miss clicked -_-‘
Neutralized for you 🙂 I do that a lot on ipad 😉
I re-clicked up on @marqod to get to the +1 I think @ancientsound wanted. M1 tanks are definitely superior to T-72s in this game (as they should be). In fact, I’m not sure the T-72s are “cheap enough” points wise. Our of six all-tank games I played, I lost four, some of them close, but some of them massacres. My two victories were skin-of-my-teeth wins mostly due to bad luck on my opponent’s dice. The choppers are the opposite. The Hinds are crazy powerful with great saves, and can fire on the move. The Cobras have their “hunter killer” rule,… Read more »
So the Warsaw Pact is going for a more Simplistic approach then. Lower Tec but very effective
Russians to bring on the pain
Must admit I’d have gone US just for an A10
“A Hind D?!?”
But seriously, the US. Attack helicopters FTW.
I would have went with US for the A10 as well. It’s the prettiest ugly aircraft ever. 🙂 Plus the sound of the sound of the gattling gun is just sweet. The Devil’s Cross is what the Russians called them in “Red Storm Rising” by Tom Clancy. Always thought that would make a cool squadron name.
Big tanks are cool, Helicopters are cool, A-10’s are ice cold killer cool – but where are the PFI? I mean you need something squishy to destroy with treads, rockets or 30mm streams of death!
U.S baby! and i would have turned up with my willies jeep all polished and creedence blasting out the radio while smoking a massive cigar and drinking a bud!
U.S., hands down. anything less would be treason. 🙂 Besides, they have the superior gear in almost all the matchups excluding AA vehicles(Nohing beats a Shilka) and mechanized troop transport(Since this is before Bradley Fighting Vehicles, the puny M113 is no match for BMP 1s and 2s)
that’s a hard one but would go with the soviet pact with the flying tank’s (Hinds).
The Hinds are definitely awesome in the game. .50 cal chin gun, huge rocket pods, AT-9 Spiral antitank missiles, and a 4+ save. Best of all, they can move and fire their AT missiles in the same turn, so nothing is ever really safe (unlimited movement for helos). Swoop around and drill those Abrams in the side or rear with the Spirals . . . SORTED! 🙂
Since the Leopard 2 is not yet in the game I go with soviets.
I’d have gone with the Yanks – but would love the Brits.
US for me, mainly because of the Abrams and also looking forward to the m113 mortar carrier, Used to serve on one of those in the Norwegian army so would be cool to field it in a game (without all the waiting and the freezing). Hope they will add “ally” units at a later stage so we can field our home country more or less.
I want to build those so bad…
The miniatures look lovely. I have an idea what I am going to do with them when I am able to get some of them. 🙂
I would have picked the US, but i admit it would have been for the choppers.
Mick “Buggeroff” is looking absolutely stoked with his army choice. 🙂
Personally I am leaning towards the Soviets as my play choice, but the US looks a lot of fun too!
I’d have gone with the US solely because at I later stage I could get some M109’s….and build up a huge amount of artillery to pound the commies into dust
jealous with the amount of shiny gear they’ve got, it seems to go on for ever
Thats a lot of kit to put together.
It’s a tough choice as I like the hind but also like the m1
So would have to say USA just for the warthogs.
I would like to assemble a vast soviet operational manoeuvre group, until the chieftan tanks appear and then I’ll immediately switch to British army of the Rhine.
I would go with the Soviets until the Brits come out
