Gaming With The Boot Campers: Mark vs Stephen
The Boot Campers still have it all to play for as they continue getting to grips with Bolt Action.
Mark and Stephen have a game underway and Oriskany tries to find out which way they think the war might swing.
Wish I was playing.
Sounds like everybody else mortars do better than mine ever do 🙂
You’re with us in spirit, @mtgamer.
@skodamarine – i was about to say mortars are a very “hit or miss weapon,” realized how silly that sounded, but hopefully you get what I mean. When they work, they WORK. When they don’t, well …
I liked the visual of the commonwealth troops going around the building in a column.
go mortars
@rfernandz2001, @wilco92 …
You can’t argue with the visual appeal of 28mm. 😀
Still going strong 🙂
check hat german with the grenade in picture 4 first row. looks like he is clubbing his mate with the grenade 😀
Yep, @lawnor!
@rot6 – “Gimme that money you owe me NOW!” CLUNK! 😀
Don’t forget that the faster you can shoot the more ammo you need to have!
This looks very cinematic, cNt wait to build a similarly themed board
Very true, @collins – a problem the MG42 would face later in the war.
@patrickkyle82 – indeed the tables were epic. 😀
Looks like hell of fun.
those tables look incredible
Everyone was having a blast, @andre77 .
@toricova – massive shout out to John and Justin for all their work on those tables.
I will have to check out using mortars
I am sensing a historic upset in the offing
@normandyfan – not sure about the game but historically they are king. Also, these are just 50mm mortars in the game at section level, these are glorified grenade launchers by today’s standards. The really killer mortars are not until you get to battalion level (76/81mm) and regiment level (120mm, 104mm, 107mm, etc).
@beardragon14 – In the campaign game? Hmm … could be. 😐
Nice to see mortars doing well 🙂
@georgesealy – The really were devastating weapons when used correctly. It’s great to see these results reflected in tabletop play.
Such a great game. Herr Gerry’s Quavers back to form and actually hitting targets this time!! Cheers to Mark for a great battle 🙂
all the Quavers all the time matey 😉
@irishsteve – @avernos – No, not the Quavers! Especially devastating (as all real historians know) at the Battle of Biffin’s Bridge.
Mark this is amazing t shirt!!!
Awesome stuff guys, I’m really starting to like what I hear about this game
Definitely a great infantry game.
mone the scots.
Sounds like everyone is having a good time.
@zorg – we’ve had a few Scots regiments well represented here. Ask @laughingboy about his success with the Black Watch (2nd battalion was with 70th Infantry in the Tobruk garrison).
Absolutely, @khy0te.
I never seem to have the luck with my mortars that everyone is at the boot camp 🙂
Looks like they’re having a great time.
Sorry to hear that, @fireblarney.
@falerox Indeed the event was fun and everyone was friendly and having a good time.
I really need to try WW2 in the desert and leave Europe for a change.
depending on the system, @carabus – it can definitely yield some very different tabletop experiences.
I’m so jealous.
It’s also a lot of work, and everyone was super-tired when the weekend was complete.
