Historicon 2019 Live Blog - Part One!
Friday Breakfast
We’re up and getting breakfast sorted, but we know there’s a time zone difference so we wanted to get your afternoon started right with some Market Garden tanks and Jagdpanthers on a gorgeous table and some Sword Beach aftermath!
I’m just about to have a chicken sandwich for lunch but I fear the Jagdpanther will be having some Sherman for breakfast. Must say that sponge/foam wrecked marker in the last picture is very effective and that piece of bocage really does convey how foreboding and difficult it would have been to fight in. I really like that, thanks for sharing.
I was debating putting a yellow circle in that image showing where the Jagdpanther was. But you spotted it, sir! If you were the commander of that Sherman you and your crew would have survived! 😀
While I would love to take credit for being an ace tank commander but I didn’t notice the Jagdpanther in the first pic until I got confused reading your post! It is much easier seeing the Sherman in the second pic than seeing the Jagdpanther in the first one 🙂 I would have been behind the lines peeling spuds or with the nerds breaking code in WW2, not in a tank!
You were warned by local intelligence! OTT scouts are the best! 🙂
An the Sherman’s Mile’s off.
Looks like the Jadgpanther’s gun is also too far forward. It’s gonna come down to whether that Jagdpanther can swing her whole bulk around before the Sherman’s turret draws on target. Spoilers … it WON’T happen, the Sherman WILL shoot first … but will probably need several rounds to even get close to penetrating that Jagdpanther’s armor.
The sneaky Jagdpanther, my favourite WW II tank-hunter.
Btw, where are the base bases with the slots for name etc. come from. Self-made?
I am assuming. OH, ONE THING I HAVE SINCE LEARNED: This system was the “Nuts” system. Run by two military history instructors at West Point, actually.
Great pictures.
Thanks! 😀
1. I LOVE the look of the grass on that table. Is that a faux fur fabric that they just painted the tips green?
2. How many Jag porn pictures do you now have on your phone @oriskany ?
It’s actually teddy bear fur you can buy at a craft store, I guess for people who like to make their own plush toys. Lots of hobbyists use it for terrain.
I don’t fancy that Sherman’s chances much.
His one advantage is that Jagdpanther’s cumbersome time to lay sights on target. He’s gotta swing the whole vehicle around …
True. I was thinking Bolt Action: 45 degree arc, away you go!
Oh, God yes. If that Jagdpanther gets the first shot … yeah, that Sherman’s toast. 🙁
