FoW 4th Edition Demo Game - Learning The Rules!

We stop in with Mike and Igor and learn the basics of Flames Of War with them over a couple of turns. You'll get to know the basics of moving, shooting and more as they battle it out with the British and German forces that the Boot Campers will be playing with.

With that in mind watch out to see how the games play out across the day and we'll be back soon.

yes i agree seeing how infantry interact in the game would be nice to see ,has the rules for them especially close combat were not the easiest to follow in previous editions of the game

So are infantry being toned down now? Or just keeping it simple to learn? I have alot of people around me do not play FOW cause they state its just tanks. People laughed at a buddy of mine cause he had infantry. I was hoping to change their minds

For this we are just keeping it simple for the weekend.

However those that laughed about infrantry couldn’t Ben more wrong (even in the old game) I found them devastating at times especially when they really dug in – very hard obstical to deal with.

But you will always see tanks as they are the mainstay of the armies and a lot is built around supporting them 🙂

@warzan glad to hear infantry are still a valid strong option however are the rules simple to follow what with assault then supporting fire then breakthrough plus perhaps more supporting fire it kinda got messy and hard to keep track off in previous editions of the game

In the games I have played, dug in infantry is hard to remove. Infantry that is out in the open with no cover. Is much easier to remove. The trick, which I have not learned is to be patient. Get your infantry in a good position and be patient. Moving infantry is very vulnerable. Which I struggled with. Ie. I have models, we are playing a war game and I need to move my models.

Agreed. Thank you

Fascinating to watch experienced players engaging – the smoke bombardment was a crafty move and of course anything daft enough to expose itself to an 88 is just a fatality in the making.
Now, we want to see how this battle ends! 🙂

Very good rules demo. The overhead camera with picture-in-picture is a great way to watch as well.

Good demo. Could se a little infantry just as example of play. But for simplicity Tanks are the way to start. keep up the great work.

Learning the rules from watching people play is I think the best way (short of playing it yourself). It takes much less time and for me it just seems to stick better. I’m a very casual gamer though so probably wouldn’t work too well in a more competitive setting. Look forward to more of this with infantry and all the other gubbins fow v4 has to offer.

I am glade you guys posted this as i was hoping to get a bit of a intro to the game play. It would be nice if you could go over one of the unit cards and point out the stats and what they mean,
