Fantasy Antares With Rick Priestley

Ben sat down with Rick Priestley to talk about how Beyond the Gates of Antares began and his future endeavours with it in a fantasy setting, dubbing it F'Antares.

Do you have any better names for Rick to choose from?

If it ever does see the light of day I think he should just run with Fantares as a name.
Mr Priestley has brought me 30 years of fond memories through his games, and if my liver doesn’t pack in I’m looking forward to the next 30

I do like listening to Rick. If GW had given him a free rein we might have seen all sorts of wonders

I’d be interested in seeing that. Still looking for a background agnostic fantasy rules system, Dragon Rampant hasn’t really grabbed me.

what type of game do you want to play?

I am kinda the same, I like a lot about Dragon Rampant but it has some grating points, kow doesn’t scratch the itch, looking at oathmark but this is really appealing.

How about going the other way and calling it Antaresy? My luck that is some sort of swear word and I will now be banned from the internet. 🙂

Blimey, what a Fantastic video, thanks for that. I am 100% sold on Fantares and am really excited for a new tranche of massed fantasy battle games, time to break out my old Orcs and Goblins!

Interested to see what the changes are and how the new mechanics work

All in if Mr Priestley can get it made, although personally a revisit to the warmaster/war of thhe ring concepts would be gaming nirvana. Fantares works for me, although throwing Tolkien a nod Myths of the new Realms is my crappy title offering.

I would love a Bolt Action / Antares – derived fantasy game. Ideally something with a bit more granularity and complexity than BA but with a bit less than Antares.

Shame that Warlord don’t want to do anything with it as it would have been really interesting. More so because it probably means this project won’t see the light of day for a good while yet.

First time I have had the pleasure to talk to Rick, real gentleman and enormously knowledgeable.

Hail Sigmar, King of Fantares!
So long as it has ranks and flanks, and the planet doesn’t explode it should be fun.
