Fancy Playing A Classic With Stratego?

If you like the idea of delving into a classic then there is a new version of Stratego coming to the tabletop this year. We actually found out that the World Champion is here at Essen...although we don't think we should bother challenging him.

Do you have a special place in your heart for Stratego?

Yes, yes I do along with Axis and Allies. Although there are so many new better modern games I am not sure it is worth my time. I can see taking it out during a holiday to play it with my brother over a nice bourbon but that is about it.

Oh yes, many a game versus my friends and / or my brother had me ring my flag with bombs and a high value guard piece 😀 .

Absolutely, yes. Stratego is a classic strategy game, and a challenging one too. It (and it’s variants which use fewer pieces) is one of the many games played every year in August at the Mind Sports Olympiad in London.

New version looks good, has a bit of a retro look to it which is cool.

Stratego started it for me. I got the wargaming bug when my brother and I started drawing expanded maps to fight it out with the fancy wooden blocks. No idea what happened to our original copy, but I might have to pick up one of the new ones for old times sake.
