Fabled Realms Beta Weekend - Sunday
Fabled Realms: Sell-Swords Guild Kitbash Focus
I talk with Cad about the variety of options available to you when it comes to building a warband in the world of Fabled Realms. You have soooooo much scope when it comes to looking at the Sell Sword Guild and other Mercenary warbands out there in the world.
Take a look at Justin's Valkyries, which are not only part of the fluff but also adding to the want for MORE background in the future.
Glad to see the map hung up properly, not being used as a map blanket haha
The theme is soo well developped for this game.
I agree with the map,its so much more impressive now its been hung. While amordanburg is d3finitely the faction for me (as i mentioned in previous comments) I love the flexibility that the sell swords give you. I think im going to end up with so many of them so drag around and get people into the games. I love the sound of the black elves in the north with the gnoll warriors, that force is screaming to be built!!
Ohh! Gnolls! This might be the excuse I need to get a box of the frostgrave gnolls.
Gnolls and trolls raiding warband! Oh yes!
dont you just love a good back story
Really love that map
Seems like a really productive weekend 😉
There are so many options for additions etc. Improvised weapons can make a showing. Minimal gold cost as they are just things being picked up, but maybe have a small list of add-ons just for them, e.g. “2×4 – 1gold. Nails – 1 gold. Lead weight – 2 gold” So the weapon is a piece of 2×4 with a lead weight tied to it with nails crudely hammered in as a basic mace weapon. Keep the dice pools of low quality, but its a cheap weapon for some peasents or a cheap alternative weapon for a farmer or something. Plus… Read more »
It sounds like this game is going to need a 400 page world guide, but the information to populate said guide already exists in the heads of the 4Ground guys so it’s just a matter of getting that information down on paper. I always hate it when I try to create a background for a person or place that doesnt mesh with the in-game lore because it wasn’t available at the time 😀
Sellswords seem the easiest to get away with a kitbash on certainly. I am using a frostgrave bits box to build some now.
I want that map – made into a blanket 🙂
The map looks great.
I am attracted to the idea of the mercenary groups because they are reminiscent of the D&D and Pathfinder parties I’ve been in over many years.
I really like the narrative. It is not only a skirmish game. You get the feeling of an ongoing adventure in a fantasy world. It is wonderful.
That is what makes Fabled realms so great. With such a big background you can make models that can come from anywhere.
Well, I can say I’m interested in learning more about the world. I can say that about very few fictional wargames that I have played.
I really like how flexible the game is with the story and throwing different bands together with ease.
Did he say you can add Gnolls to a wareband? Oh yeah!
lol I was excited. that should be war band
I really like where this game is going
The background is really awesome. You realize that the guys from 4ground gaming this world for a long time.
like the map
how did you get the map made? paint directly onto the leather? how do you stop the paint from pealing right off?
I really want to see a lore/campaign book for the game. I would love to rip it off for an RPG game like D&D or Pathfinder.
I very much agree with Ben, that there is a huge role play vibe to the Fabled Realms.
Maybe there will be a spin off (a’la Mythic)?
They’ve previously mentioned that they will be an RPG at some point where you can take your characters from the skirmish game into it.
