Bolt Action Boot Camp: Saturday
D-Day Campaign: Battle For Pegasus Bridge Round Two
With night fighting still limiting everyone's shooting, both armies began to move onto the bridge itself. The paras moved forward in tight formation, ready for anything.
Meanwhile on the other side of the bridge the full force of the Waffen SS had moved onto the board. The German command had heard activity on the other side of the river and went to secure the side of the bridge with the control room, while the infantry moved into position for a fire fight.
With night fighting in effect, Commodorerob will be relying heavily upon his Howitzer's spotter to let him bring his heavier fire power into the fray. Of course, Wendren knows this and will be focusing plenty of fire on the hapless para.
Bring on the big bangs.
That Peg bridge set is beautiful! Is that the 4ground kit?
I wonder if its going to turn out the same as history??
Well, if memory serves, the bridge fell VERY quickly. The real heavy fighting came later with the counter attack. And of course they weren’t SS troops. But the sheer awesome-ness of that bridge model, and @commodorerob and @wendren volunteering to have their game recorded as part of our WWDDC = nothing less than pure “win” and gratitude for us in the WWDDC. Thanks again!
It will be a hard fight…a very hard fight…i have played the scenario before with the right forces and it was hard even then with only 2 five man sections of para’s and some long range weapons at night it is even harder…
Hopefully if it does they will have a little Lord Lovat march across with piper Bill playing away.
Airborne will come through. What do you expect from the type of madman that ‘wants’ to jump out of working aircraft!
And of course they are British 🙂
It’s too early to really call but I suspect the Germans may pull this off as they are quickly into position.
I think I said this on another thread . . . but I’m actually rooting for the Germans here. In the WWDDC, I’m playing the Germans against the Canadians on Juno Beach, and if the Germans hold this bridge the 21st Panzer will be in a much better position to threaten the flank of Sword Beach and possibly Juno when the sun comes up in a few hours. The men of the British 3rd Infantry might have a nasty surprise waiting for them . . .
Go @wendren !!
What a game. I would love to have viewed live video action on this one. Maybe some video footage of this in the near future? Tutorial possibly? 😉
Bit hard to root for the germans on this one, though I’m sure the german player thinks differently haha!
Can’t stop from feeling a bit of inadequacy when I look at that table. Puts all of my creations to shame.
Really great angles for those shots.
I think the Germans can hold this one. I real they wouldnt know which para was the spotter etc. Perhaps you should have made him a ‘normsl’ para to make it more realistic.
This bridge looks great
Shots fired!
Liking the scenario
Nice coverage
go get them boys
Made things a bit easier on the Germans than in real life here.
The bridge fell in ten minutes, with only one British casualty. Doubt that will be replicated here.
Looks like a bloodbath is imminent.
Snowtroopers! 🙂
I love the bridge model a lot, but I don’t like the battlefield that having a model like that creates. Its beautiful for a special scenario like that. But for a home table where you want to play balanced games, it seems like it is a hard balance to strike.
The bridge is large and would be great fun but I agree it would be hard to build a table just for running that type of battle. Maybe have it cross the gap of two boards.
Go British! Take the Bridge!
Wish I could have seen this play out in person
A lot of soldiers, on both sides, are going to get shot on that bridge.
