D-Day Campaign: Battle For Pegasus Bridge Round One

Chris and Victoria Goddard, with the help of Oriskany, are running a World Wide D-Day Campaign and we are diving in with the Battle for Pegasus Bridge.

For this, Commodorerob and his veteran British Paras step up to face Wendren's Waffen SS, fighting for the bridge's control room in a 500pts night fight.

For the first round, Wendren started with only one unit of German riflemen on the board. Commodorerob started things off, moving his Vickers MMG forwards to cover the bridge and moving his paras into position.

Meanwhile, the Germans realise something is wrong and begin to run on to the board and towards the bridge, while the riflemen who had already been guarding it run up into the structure for a better vantage point.

As the fight happened at night, everyone's line of sight was reduced to 12". This meant that neither player could bring their artillery pieces, howitzers and mortars, to bear at this early stage, so for now they focused on getting into the most advantageous positions.

Sounds as if the Germans in your game reacted faster than those at the bridge on the actual day.

That bridge and the table you’ve made for it is a brilliant piece of work. Due a game of Bolt Action next weekend, and have been looking for scenario ideas, think I might break out Battleground Europe again after seeing some of the ideas you guys have went with.

That bridge is definitely a beautiful peice. Special thanks to @commodorerob and @wendren for having this game be part of the WWDDC. Much appreciation and look to be mentioned in our upcoming articles! 😀

A smoke machine would go well along side this table. Can’t wait to see how this turns out.

Like to participate. What would be a good German starter army? Though it is late war setting, I like the early war theme colors.

It’s a very nice looking bridge. Though it’ll be interesting to see how this bottleneck map plays out.
