Flames Of War D-Day Boot Camp: Saturday
Catching Up With Some Of Our Last Minute Painters
John talks to those adding the finest of details to their army for the weekend.
Stopping off first with Bob, he is adding individual names to the sides of each of his tanks. And Martin gets a rude awakening of sorts as he finds out he only has about an hour before he needs to get his army ready…
I love the idea of tanks named after Deep Purple songs
I see a hat like that and all I think is, “do you want fries with that?”
I wouldn’t want to spend the bootcamp paintig. I’d want to get some games in while I can. Painting can wait. The most I’d do is prime and spray one colour on.
I absolutely love this idea of naming tanks – might steal that for my army!
I feel the pain with the painting to a timescale; I’m god awful at that. Takes me months to paint units sometimes…
I don’t even try, they get done when they get done
I’m with @laughingboy – if it ain’t painted it doesn’t go on the table! (kind of a limiter to slow the purchasing down…. kind of…. )
I got it all done and even got a good number of games in and without a loss proving painted models get better rolls.
also, baked dice
You would have to ask @oriskany about that they are his dice 😉
I’m telling you, @laughingboy and @avernos – those dice are just very “friendly.” They want to please their master. I say that because I only gave you HALF the dice, I used the others literally just this same weekend. What’s strange is that in our game … “Panzer Leader” … you want to roll LOW. And they do pretty well at that. Meanwhile, other dice from the same set are rolling HIGH for you in Flames of War. So it’s not that the dice are physically weighted. Just “spooky.” As if perhaps possessed by the soul of a gamer who… Read more »
fine when they left you, but he’s been hanging around Lloyd so bad cooking habits may have cropped up by now
One could have great fun with tank naming themes… 🙂
great looking models
I’d name my tanks as well, but after Iron Maiden songs.
That is an amazing bit of hobbying everyone did there to get their units ready. No way I could work that fast!
im simply too slow a painter i like to plod listen to the radio sing badly and drink lots of tea.
is that a challenge that all the army’s have to be painted/primed get some camaraderie with guys helping if any are struggling? @warzan (prizes)???
I’d have to have a time limit on painting if I went to a boot camp or I’d be kicked out on Sunday having not played a game.
you and me both, I get round it by doing neither it seems ^^
Like the infantry blue piping on the hat. We lost that detail after the war.
im amazed that anymore at these boot camps gets stuff painted before playing, i take years to get things painted
Naming tanks , I love it.
That would be me – Sunday evening still trying to get the army done!
Yeah a nice detail to personalise the army.
Named tanks always shoot better!
Catching up with last minute painters is truly more inspiring than catching up with the Kardashians. Although they have something to do with paints as well. Smears your pillow.
Magnifiers with a light?! Genius.
Keep’em straight @johnlyons!
All looking good gents.
get a game in
Deadlines are always a good motivator!
If I was painting I’d at least another day to finish the figures!!
Looks nice. I think those magnifiers would give me a headache
