Catching Up With Richard - Why Did You Pick UCM?

We're going to be talking with some of the Boot Camp members throughout the weekend as they start to explore their fleets.
Kicking things off we're talking with Richard about the UCM and what made him pick this faction.
Looks like things are in full swing, I spy an Andy in the background, hope someone brought you some Agrax again 😉
“Lots of pointy things”
That really describes my justification of many miniature purchases. “Ohh, pointy bits. I wanna paint the pointy bits!”
I felt the same way about the “lots of guns” comment haha. The more firepower the better!
I don’t think there’s a faction that I don’t like the look of.
PHR and UCM have become my priorities though.
I hear that! PHR are the faction I most like the look of with UCM being a VERY close second! Shaltari are cool and the Scourge are making me think about looking at poisonous fish for colour schemes.
I have the same problem, I love the UCM for their very plausible, naval feel, but I love the PHR for their sleek tigir shark kind of shape to their ships… and the guns… OH SO MANY GUNS!!
I guess everybody is just building straight with no shaenigans like magnets right?
p.s. plz get tutorials for quick painting from the good ones!^^
@Badula, I’ve magnetted up all my starter cruisers, they can switch between any of the variants in the rulebook
I am getting the UCM when my kickstarter arrives 🙂
UCM caught my eye right at the beginning, they just look like warships. Still going to have to play all four though 🙂
The ucm strike me as really cinematic. I couldn’t help but fly them round when I built my first ones at home
I chose UCM as my main fleet mainly because of the movie ALIENS.
Who needs any justification beyond that?!?
When I backed the KS I want for all four factions. A friend offered to chip in an share the pledge, but he wanted the UCM, so I had to say NO 😉
I’m doing up UCM myself! The battleship is just gorgeous.

Got starter fleet finished ,plus battlecruiser a
4th cruiser and 4 missile frigates , painted using a variation of Warrens cell technique.
Picked ucm for the look but after a couple of games i love the playstyle aswell. Bought a battleship on tuesday and cant wait to try it out
Got some UCM just need get them painted up and grab a game
They do look much more detailed than I thought they would be.
Ucm looks great and with space stations just add more guns .
I am currently assembling the battleship, while deciding on which paint scheme to pick for these beauties.
I like the look of UCM
Anyone familiar with the game, does the UCM favor a conservative or aggressive strategy? I.e. they’re tanky or aggro?
I`ve gone for the UCM, i fell in love with them from day one, but as i also have a UCM DZ force it was only right i kept the theme going.
On a side note, i`m feeling the PHR calling me. So you never know, you may see a small force from me at some point down the road.
UCM is one of my three fleets, as an ex navy man the colour scheme has got to be medium sea grey with traditional names like Westminter, iron duke, oceon illustrious etc etc
i may even try and get at least one model that looks like its been in a fight
UCM good all-rounder and they have something of the Sulaco aesthetic (from Aliens).
And who doesn’t love lots of big guns?
UCM look cool but the PHR look even better
I have all four factions, but magnets or glue is the point I’m stuck at the moment.
I think I would prefer UCM given the range combat preference. I would have to pick up the scourge just to have a fleet to battle!
