Catching Up With Adam - First Game Thoughts (Shaltari)

We're now finding out how Adam is doing in his game using the Shaltari. It seems like the Space Hedgehogs are doing well!

Will they be able to survive the attack from the UCM? We find out as Ben tries to blast Adam's stuff out of the sky with a burn through laser!

4+ shield save seems pretty potent. do the shaltari have weaker ships other than the shields?

Potent indeed, but makes you visible almost all over the board… and if everything gets to shoot at you, 4+ will not be enough.

Also once the shields are up you have no point defence so you can be got at by bombers or even some dedicated close action ships

Can you deactivate your shields, if you manage to run far away from your enemy that is?

I love the concept of the Shaltari, but they seem to be the fleet that require the most micromanagement. The fact that they have a 5+ if they don’t have shields up sounds crazy.

Shaltari do seem to be the trickiest of all the factions!
Hard to master but really effective when played well

keeps them in line with their ground based counterparts! tricky, but deadly when in the hands of a practiced commander

Shaltari shields are cool, but their massive scan and tiny signature makes them much harder to fight as Scourge, at least that’s what I’ve found so far.

Oh – the dice can be cruel or kind. Nice to see Shaltari on the table.

I like the idea that their shields make them visible. Makes you have decide on your defense.

Story of my life playing against Shaltari in Dropzone – shields all the way down.

Nice dice rolling on the defense. The game is looking fantastic. Makes me question why I didn’t back the KS.

Shields Up! It definitely seems the way to go if you have already closed with the enemy as they would be able to see you anyway.

I seem to get rolls like that against me… a great hit, all nullified! I hate that.

I was going to say that the Shaltari seem like they would take a bit to get your mind around how they work. It seems Adam has just chose to roll really well which usually works no matter the game.

We both had a good laugh about those save rolls. I thought I had that attack all wrapped up. The Berlin did prove its worth a turn later by getting a burn through kill. Really enjoying the game

the high risk high reward factions are always crazy to play as or against one second you think they’re the best the next you think they have nothing.

I’m looking forward to rolling some stupid lucky burn throughs.

The space hedgehogs look a lot nicer in the video than in the pictures. especially against the green and white background.

The mats are quite vibrant, but it does make it harder to see all the ships on video. That was a great round of saves, by the way. You can tell I didn’t roll them, since they worked!
