Bolt Action: Western Desert Boot Camp Live Blog - Saturday
Boot Campers Get Their Tanks!
It felt about right for the Boot Camp members to get their tanks so they can start using some heavy armour on the tabletop, throwing in a bit of heavy metal to see what damage they can do.
The British got their hands on two Valentine MkII as well as a Humber MkII Armoured Car. The Germans snagged themselves an 8 Rad Armoured Car along with a Horch Transport Vehicle.
We shall have to see how much carnage they can cause across the rest of today and tomorrow!
AHHHH why am i not at this bootcamp? this is the second bolt action boot camp i miss.. enjoy everyone, this looks like so much fun, i`ll be watching the coverage.
Nice, looking good … definitely think DAk will be my new year project. Avoiding looking at the 8th as multi-national options are fantastic.
@wazarov and @dags The German armoured car indeed looks fantastic. I didn’t get a great look at the Valentine but I’m sure it’s amazing. 😀
Now some nice moving targets.
im so jealous -.- i want to build valentines and humbers too. i love the humbers in steel division normandy 44 on the scotts and the houshold and they pretty much are the reason why im considering to play brits at the club 🙂 Its just such a nice armoured support car. the germans had some nice little scout cars too with the 22X and 26X series but the humber just have a better feel to them in terms of gameplay. sigh… atleast its more tanks tomorrow 😀
@andre77 and @rot6 Humbers are indeed great armoured cars – especially some of the versions with 20mm autocannon (little later in the war, I think).
yeah great transport hunters and supression device
I don’t know why, @rot6, but British, German, and American armored cars are just always the “darlings” of my Battlegroup or Panzer Leader force. Maybe it’s because I always picture the force commander riding around in one of these.
My favourite was always the Panhard. In our France 1940 campaign the best games we had were Recon units bumping into each other
20 autocannons franaticlly going at each other. 😀
Tanks!!!!!Tanks!!!…and more tanks
Tanks!! I love a good armoured vehicle, they’ll never take the place of my beloved infantry but I’ll accept their support ?
Need more panzers!
@warhammergrimace , @dane001 , @patrickkyle82 – these vehicles definitely look the part! 😀
now thi is what i was waiting for—- tanksss
moving targets for the win!!! Armored cars are not to be underestimated.
Hell yeah, @toricova!
Couldn’t agree more @tibour – XXX Corps in particular (SA dividion and 7th Armoured, so that’s 4th, 22nd, and 7th Armoured Brigades) have lots of Armored Car cavalry regiments in Crusader, and were often the first to engage Italian elements of XX and XXI Corps, so the main tank regiments could engage the Germans once 15th and 21st Panzer made the pivots southward.
now we will see the stuff hit the fan lol
Looking forward to seeing some of those on the tables.
a lot of armer of the britz
Agree, @normandyfan, @daegren … @wilco92 – indeed, I was a little worried that the British were getting a lot of tanks and armour, and the Germans were getting much less.
Have you had justin tested yet? You probably should.
Justin the ever quirky
@lawnor and @collins – it’s way too late to have Justin tested. Now we make sure WE get tested so it doesn’t spread … 😐
Haha. Sounds like special vaccinations a requirement of employment there 😉
Covered in the Boot Camp ticket price. 😀
I love the early war armored vehicles. All nice and light stuff nothing super heavy like Tigers and Panthers. Just some simple thin armored little cars
..and the Germans got themselves a Tiger…. And what’s this!? The White Flag has gone up on the British side!
Someone was getting ready to bring a Tiger, I don’t think it arrived in the post in time.
Ooh my darling ooh my darling ooh my darling Valentine…..
😀 😀 😀 😀
Nice to see the love for “lesser” vehicles – not just the archetypical Pz IIIs and Honeys (as much as I like those tanks!)
The 8-Rad is crazy looking. It’s like it’s the petrol guzzling great grandfather of the BMW i8.
@georgesealy – indeed, PzKpfw IIIG and M3 Stuart / Honey would be perfect for Operation Crusader.
@khy0te – does that BMW come with 2.0 cm autocannon as factory standard? Or is that an option you have to pay extra for? 😀
@oriskany I think I saw the 2.0cm as an option, but only if you get the model with the range extender. 😉
Nice. 😀
I am really getting jealous they got some really neat kits for this bootcamp. Maybe next time…
Looking forward to seeing the armoured support hitting the tables.
@lupa15 and @fireblarney – We should see some of these on the tables soon!
Wow, can’t wait to see them in action!
Omg now that will be fun
@falerox and @daverouge1 – the only thing is that people are stuck into games, and not many are stopping to BUILD the tanks. There are at least two exceptions though, we’ll made sure we got at least one of those games on camera.
Picked up a Panzer to start a Afrika Korp army today
Tanks, Tanks, we need more Tanks….
Awesome, @warhammergrimace! “Panzer rollen in Afrika vor!”
Absolutely, @carabus. 😀
Already have two panzers painted in 20mm. I’m thinking I need another two in that scale. I’ll stick with just the one in 28mm.
