Historicon 2019 Live Blog - Part One!
BONUS POST - Community Members go Napoleonic!
Day Two may be over, but the team never sleeps! Here are some shots of community members Gerry, John, and our friend Andrew engaged in some furious Austrian vs. French 10mm Napoleonics. The system was simply “Napoleonic Convention” – a four-page home rule set designed to allow massive Napoleonic games to run in 3-4 hours.
John was holding the buildings on the French team’s left flank, withstanding furious assaults by Austrians under the command of Andrew and Gerry!
That looks amazing, so many minis!
This table was HUGE! 🙂
It´s wonderful you can tell what the figures depict despite the small scale.
They were amazingly detailed and painted, especially for 10mm
Did you play yourself Jim?
Sadly, no. I’m literally running around setting up interviews and taking photos.
I did sit in and watch for a while, though.
The green backpack in the main photo is my “avatar.” 😀
I do have some more information, though … it’s French vs. Austrians, 1809, Battle of Essling.
Did manage to get some turns in for Ultracombat Normandy, though. even with terrible 709th Infantry vs. elite US Paras, my friend Drew and I managed to win the day! … okay, HE won the day. 😀
But who won, and did any of the BoW team there who might have never played a rank and file Naps play (and how did they find it?).
Must admit after all this coverage, it’s got me to dig out my copy of the Waterloo movie (fantastic stuff), might do Zulu next 🙂
You would have to ask @silverfox8 , @warforger , or @avernos . 😀
I’ve played plenty of rank and flanks as anyone who has spotted my tshirt will know it’s vastly superior to round bases. The game was good for a home brew set of rules. There are things we agreed we would all change, the distance repulsed for example.
Amen. At least until 1900 … square bases over rounded bases ALWAYS.
Austrians en masse. What a sight!
The “Sight” was @avernos ‘ Austrians in headlong rout from @silverfox ‘s French!
