Flames Of War 4th Edition Boot Camp: Day Three
Blood On The Sand, Smoke In The Skies
As we mentioned in our round-up video it seems like things are really coming towards a crunch time here on the tabletop. Flanks are breaking, armies are eyeing up their next targets, and it looks like some people are regretting their choice of tactics.
With that in mind we'd love to hear about any of the big mega games that you might be running for Flames Of War, or indeed any World War II games.
Get stuck in and let us know how you'd approach a game like El Alamein? Maybe we could get some Bolt Action into the mix too?
Have not been in one that big before except with Micro armor. 3 8×6 linked tables doing Kursk over a two day period. It was amazing.
It is hard to tell whose side of the table we are looking from as there are tanks pointing in every direction…
Swirling tank battle!
The camera POV is from south looking north. Germans on the left, British on the right.
“Blood On The Sand, Smoke In The Skies” is a nice title for a scenario…or book!
Looks like absolute carnage
I would love to play in a game this big one day
Well that battle is utter chaos.
Epic looking
Love the tables guys
Great photos
Does the game have any rules for sand storms?
So many burning and headless tanks…
Love the table and progress thus far.
MMh i would approach slowly but steady.
Do you make a list for burning tanks?
I think with Bolt Action being a larger scale I might okay a four person game, but set up the tables in a 4 foot by 18 foot configuration. I would then play the long directions of the table but start the match in the middle. This would allow for retreats and counter attacks just like in the really African campaign.
Great view down the table
The cotton storm is hitting us hard.
Look at all of that movable american cover.
My local club ran a Market Garden and a Bulge event…each 5 tables long. The MG game each table could help other tables freely and the Bulge event only after you won your table could you help the center. Both ways worked great and were a huge blast.
Love the collection of tank turrets hanging out on top of one of the houses =P
Haha, yeah i noticed that as well!
There is something I lobe about seeing burning enemy tanks!
Looks like John’s Grants are doing well!
Blood on the sand, smoke in the sky, grit in my pants!
Those Grants look to be very strong in the desert and show that whole Lend Lease thing may have been worth it.
I have never played on a table that large. Recently I ran a 3000 pt Bolt Action game at a local Convention, http://rapiercon.com/. It was a blast. I have played multiple companies in FOW previous editions(1st and 2nd) and they were a lot of fun.
Well I’m sold when’s the starter set out
