Best Miniatures Game 2015

This was quite the close category but we've been taking a look at how the world of mass miniature battle games seems to be changing to embrace a lot more skirmish games.

Do you think we're seeing a big swing in the way people play their miniatures games?

My pick would be Frostgrave, but I like Guild Ball too. A difficult one.

I think you guys are right, there does appear to be a shift more towards skirmish games. I find they are usually the ones that get played more in a tournament setting, mainly due to either the number of models needed, or the shorter playing time.

I have to back Kings of War on this one. Mantic is just getting better and better every year.

Frostgrave, of course! Ticks many boxes of gaming enjoyment.

Frostgrave has been a true boon for all my diverse fantasy minis at home, so it gets my vote. Got a mainly Khador-based Enchanter/Elementalist warband and a Necromancer warband with minis from Age of Sigmar-starter, Wrath of Ashardalon-board game and Zombicide.
It is lovely to see it all come together!

Man this is really hard. Frostgrave and Armada are really good games. Never tried Guildbowl. But I go with Kings of War. It is just so good and it is the first system that works really well at tournaments, I think.

I’ve only played Guildball out of these, but from the some of the local players talk that Frostgrave is probably going take this one for the dedicated fan base.

Hands down this is Guild Ball. A brilliantly conceived, executed, and presented game.

If I was a betting woman I’d say Frostgrave wins, never played it but I know it’s popular. I’m not surprised AoS didn’t make it into the finals, It didn’t have the best start. And as much as I like Kings of War I’m surprised it made it.

Difficult category to pick a winner from, my bet is on KoW to win by a nose.

Tentatively backing… Guildball, with Frostgrave to place. I have yet to try any of these.

I’d be surprised if Guild Ball wins. I think it is pretty much a toss up between any of the other three.

THIS is the main event. The big one. It’s not a question of best miniatures game overall, its best released last year and that’s a far more interesting question.
For me it has to be Guildball. It’s a great game, with amazing scope and good support. But Frostgrave is top too, real old school but with modern twist. Batman miniatures game, Armarda and Halo are close third place too. Strong category. Really shows the breadth and quality of our hobby right now.
