Beasts Of War Awards 2015 - Live Blog (Finalists Revealed)
Best Gaming Art 2015
Art is what drives us forward to paint our models certain ways and develop armies to fit into backgrounds and settings. With that in mind we take a look at some of your favourites...
What do you think of the finalists?
For me, it’s either Age of Sigmar, or Guild Ball.
Also just want to add my tribute to Wayne England and Christopher Rush. Both brilliant artists who captured my imagination and brought our gaming worlds to life. Gaming art helps me visualise the settings of games. Wayne made the Warhammer universes leap off the pages and immersed me in the stories, the rulebooks beame more than just rules, but a window into these worlds and an inspiration for scenarios. Christopher Rush did the same with Magic the Gathering, he gave the spells life with his art, and helped me to use my imagination, to put myself in the world of… Read more »
Infinity on this one. I agree with you guys on the artists being overlooked to much for the worlds they create. Growing up with posters of Boris and Frazetta on my walls, I can really appreciate that our fantasy worlds just wouldn’t be the same without their efforts.
Guild ball or Frostgrave … or Infinity or AoS. Amazing art work, so hard to choose between the finalists!
This was a weird category to pick for as there is so much art and I didn’t have a glue who to pluck for Blanche from GW has always been a favorite and having been there from the beginning has inspired so many, but having now seen the entries have to pluck fir Antares artwork.
Can I just say I think @johnlyons ‘ pose in the intro video is classic. Although @lloyd ‘s puff of smoke off the finger guns is a close second. 😀
…he looks the part.
Lol – John didn’t even have to try and look that cool 😉
he is still eating his breakfast in the vid?
Hmmm. Another toughy. Lets go with Guild Ball on this.
I think Infinity has this one.
Also, am I the only one who wants to know the name of the artists on each piece?
Frostgrave for me, as it conjours up much nostalgic imagery from early role playing experiences. I too, join with the sentiments of condolences towards Chistopher Rush and Wayne England’s families and friends. What legacies they leave though!
As a bit of an artist myself art has always been about bringing dreams to life.
as a peace of ard Guilball no other, after that Frostgrave.
Guild Ball all the way … The art is freaking fantastic!!
the art is like a photo picture bringing the game/caricature to life, book covers are the same I think.
Have to say I’m stunned the Gates of Antares art wasn’t a finalist, but as said in the vid, art is subjective! 😀
Guild Ball for me.
Kingdom Death again for me. By a country mile.
Guild Ball all the way.
Ahh Kingdom Death not a finalist 🙁 Though that piece is a little confronting when you really look at it.
I’ll back Frostgrave, it looks classic fantasy and so well done.
Just Going on art I’d go AoS (as I love GW’s massed battle art) or Guild Ball as the art and individual character sketchs have nearly sold me the game over and over again ……. damn (again) ….. I’ll go Guild Ball
I think Kingdom Death but Infinity US Ariadna is my fav
