P-VLOG Building The Adeptus Mechanicus Army
Basing The Army
We have a chat about how we're going to go about basing the army. We want it to look as much like the surface of Mars as possible but how do we achieve that?

I really don’t mind been late to comment on your decisions, it’s fun as it is xD And who knows, maybe some comments may inspire a future video 😀
And as Warren has said, this is about painting armies, and that’s what I love the most of this vlog projects. It shows a different approach to the hobby, and we as a community (or at least myself) can learn a lot about this painting system.
And the toothpick is a great tip!
i agree with what your saying
I have used cork sheets and sand as basing for my skitarii. Then I basecoated them in Fur brown, washed with GW shade Reikland fleshshade, then heavy drybrush with 50/50 mix of fiery orange (Army panter) and Leather brown (Army painter). Lastly a light drybrush of GW Dry Ryza Rust.
I really like my result and it mimich the more craggy areas of mars.
my Orks are mainly a goff army and i went with sand for 2 reasons.
1, gorkamorka baby!!!!!
2, high and nice contrast to the black.
so i used crakle paint (nice cracked earth/dry earth effect) and 3 grades of sand, then based it in model air mahogany,
then washed in agrax earthshade.
then it dry brushed in model air khaki brown, madel air sand and a very fine praxetri white.
the toothpick is a good hint guys.
