Hrm.. at 22:53, the ship suffers a ‘fire’ crit and he says his units can’t do anything until they put the fire out, yet they go on to attempt a boarding action. Is the fire results immediate or delayed until the end of the round (card)?
Interesting mechanic. Does wind direction play a part?
We had limited time and wanted to make sure to get off a boarding action, so we ignored the fire! Forgot to mention it, sorry.
Wind does have an effect. A ship cannot sail closer than 45º into the wind. Also, all ships sailing upwind take a penalty to their speed (except the sloop).
Another game I want to try. The boats I want for D&D.

Agreed. Naval battles are fun, but a bit limited in terms of options. Let’s see a bloody melee in and around some docks.

Love the idea, seemed a little one sided on the demo, several special rules used for the Spanish to give an advantage.
I always loved age of piracy, and exactly the conflict between France, England and Spain when each one assaults others ships for his gold, readed about it a bit so hope someday have some minis and play some.
The ships and watery terrain are captivating.
I love the sea battle aspect of Blood and Plunder.
Looks very cool and like a good jumping in point for some naval combat!
