The Allies Move Up The Beach

The ships have now unloaded their cargo of men and vehicles and they are moving up into combat with the Germans. We’re loving how evocative these tabletops are looking and they have been a great source of inspiration for us when it comes to thinking about beach landings.

This goes back to us thinking about asymmetrical gaming as a whole and how it is always a very tense game to play out when one side has a dominating position over the other…who will come out on top?

Well I’m here, already bumped into Bootcamp vets Martin and Michael, gorgeous weather, enjoyed 1st seminar on what’s coming and enjoying cold drink in bar and perusing the American d-day book.

I love these tables. It would be awesome to be able to play on table tops like these.

You have to really work to make a balanced asymmetrical scenario, but BF does a pretty good job most of the time

I love the work done on these tables!

From the various sized landing craft to the German trenches in the table and the rolled barbed wire fence made from wire wrapped by smaller gauge wire of a different color. Fantastic Job to the table builders.

A great looking table makes an even better playing game as it emmurses you into the action.

Good. The house in the upper left corner reminds me of TV footage from D-Day. I mean the scenes when British soldiers disembark from their landing craft just opposite a relatively unharmed house right at the beach.

I like asymmetrical games – it all balanced out of you swap sides next time you play the scenario. Historical battles were rarely fairly balanced.

That’s another table I need to get working on here. A beach assault game would be awesome to play out.
