Trying GW Contrast Paints Part 2 (Games Workshop)
Come and join Warren and Lloyd as they take a peek at the Contrast Paints in more detail.
These seem like they could be a very good punt for those that are really interested in getting started painting miniatures.
Thank you again for this! Great article!!
Thanks for this. I have very little time to paint and it is nice to see the “everyday” painter’s perspective. I have been holding off painting several armies because I too did not think I clould make it look good. Great information, thanks again!
great stuff, loads of potential in those paints.
I have hundreds of minis to paint and will be trying them when they’re out.
I have painting units of the same thing, it’s why I have a batch of warmachine still to do.
Individual minis for RPGs and leaders I take more time with.
yep, boardgames and hord style armies (skeletons, skaven, orks …)
Definitely going to buy into this as I need to paint those zombie games with minimal effort.
I’ve already seen a video of a youtuber doing zenith highlight with contrast paint.
It’s a very plausible option :

Metallics + contrast paints :

Thank you, you two this is such a great video. The paints do look good and I will try them out. Can I say you Warren and LLoyd should do alot videos with just you two in them. This shows such brotherly love for each other and both of your hobbies. I wanna see more videos like this 🙂 🙂
I would be interested in see what the different primer would look like. Keep up the awesome work guys.
This is great!
Lovely insight as to how they will work! I’m with you on the marines, wasnt too fussed on the blue, but yellow and even the red look interesting.
One thing I cant wait to try out is white… I need to see how that turns out!
The Poxwalkers looked cool, the jeans amazing, the guts amazing, I didnt like painting my mob of them up, this method would have been great to have!
I have a few tests I would like to do myself with these! Expect me down to OTT when they come out to test out my theories!
Really disappointed not to be there, even more so as I would love to have tried these out.
They’re really interesting mate, my advice is buy 3 or 4, have a play and then buy what you need for your painting armoury. I was really impressed by what the effect was once I started playing with the consistency on the dark angel legs.
Well worth a punt, as long as they don’t overprice them!
There is now hope for my unpainted Dark Angels, Black Templars and Grey Knights armies as well as my Walking Dead Zombie hordes. Looking forward to Warren and Lloyd’s further experiments to get the most out of these paints.
I tried them out them out too and I’m actually quite impressed
very intresting I have been watching this guy go through he paint: Pete the wargamer hes done 3 so far

Would be interesting to see the intensity of the colour if a second coat is put over the first. Looks like this will be a good addition to the hobby!
Have a load of primairus marine figures from the conflict magazine and wanted to incorporate them into my dark angel chapter….contrast paint to the rescue…already have the marines primed in skeleton bone primer from army painter and am just waiting on GW to deliver contrast paints to us mere mortals.
@caileendeas you could use these to paint the plague nurgle side of conflict magazine figures quickly
Great discussion and thanks for the review. Would really like to see the results of the white.
Definitely seems worth having a play with. Impressed with the black too. I thoight this would hide a lot of the detail as it is a thick medium but the results seem a lot better than I had expected. Thanks for the demo.
Just got a Tyranid army outta nowhere. Can see me using this for a Tiamat Fleet super quick.
I think there’s real potential with these! I look forward to trying them out. Thanks for giving them a try and letting us see what there about.
Great review after the models have dried to see the finished result.
I would like to see what you will do more with these paints.
Its been great to see a video of using them ‘live’. Seen a few videos now of end results but seeing them in use has been a good insight. Was tempted to buy the whole range originally, but think I might try a select few first and see how they go. I’m a big Army Painter method fan when I need it, so will have to see how these stack up in terms of time saving.
I’m still In two minds about these paints.
I think the flesh tones could be useful as long as the colours aren’t too cartoony.
Good to see, it’s going to be perfect for really fast painting
Hmm I think I’d have kept my Walking Dead set if these paints were about at the time. Gribbly flesh tones and jeans? Bosh, done in seconds.
Was I the only one that could hear John cry out in terror when Warren said They’d be painting a whole new army?
the paint does look good.
