Bolt Action: Western Desert Boot Camp Live Blog - Sunday
Campaign Results + Crowning The Desert Rat & Desert Fox!
We’ve got lots of awesome goodies to chat about as the campaign wraps up AND some awards to give out to our Desert Rat and our Desert Fox.
We also had a something special to give to our awesome campaign organiser Oriskany!
Now, that’s a proper summary of this faboulous weekend 🙂 and a great award for Mr Jim @oriskany
Thanks very much, @yavasa. 😀 It was definitely a huge amount of fun to do.
That’s a nasty desert infection. Pesky airfield.
It really did stop the British cold, @collins. I swear we applied no scenario bonuses or conditions or anything for those battles, just all of a sudden the British players started losing games. Which was surprising because I felt the British reinforcement pack was bigger than than the German reinforcement pack.
It is great to see Jim over here in the flesh. And as was said, he took an already great event and turned it into something even more epic. Nice to see him getting recognition for all his hard work.
you deserve it Oriskany, congrats all the boot campers
Thanks very much, @waywarddarkwolf and @wilco92 – This was an absolutely epic event with the best wargaming community on earth – 1,000 gratitudes to the OTT team and all the participants and to Charlie and the Warlord Team. Seriously, you guys make all the work 100% worthwhile.
🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂
Congrats to the winners and oriskany, have fun with the goodies
Awesome surprise. Great Campaign I would’ve loved to be there but following along has been awesome none the less
Well, @hairybrains and @patrickkyle82 – thanks very much but you might not hear from me for a while – seems I have tons of building and painting to do! 😀 😀 😀
Great campaign, so full marks to Jim. John and Charlie need a rematch….
I second the motion on the rematch! WE CAN’T END THE CAMPAIGN ON A DRAW !!!!
Well deserved prizes all. Particularly Jim – as you say his contribution took it over the top. These weren’t just games – they were meaningful and educational too.
Great weekend, I am really looking forward to getting some desert war in myself. Congrats to all, and Oriskany the bootcampers got their DAK tabletop ready in a weekend 🙂
Thanks, @darkdanegan and @tibour – but the real congratulations need to go to Warlord, BoW / OTT, and especially all the friends at the event that made this event so awesome. 😀
Let’s have a virtual round of applause for everybody who made this boot camp so much fun to watch.
oriskany made a great weekend into an epic – I love the bits of background material, especially the note from Rommel – ‘get moving! Rommel’
I agree 100% @skodamarine – and thanks very much @dorthonion. 😀
well deserved for all those nice maps and videos about infantry tactics
Well done for all the hard work this weekend @oriskany I look forward to seeing all your models built and painted
Thanks very much, @rot6 and @chaingun! 😀 Although it’s gonna take me a while to get all those kits put together and painted! 😀
@oriskany
Absolutely well deserved!!! No Alamo game this weekend I guess, but you really put in some significant work! Welcome to 28mm my friend!
Thanks very nuch, @silverfox! Yeah, no “Iron Cross Oriskany” this time. No worries! It’s all about the participants at the boot camp! 😀
excellent. great coverage andd looks like everyone had a blast
i am sure they had more fun than the movie tobruk. lets face it, most old war movies are just bad. my favorite desert war theme movies are
the hill
ice cold in alex
Sahara
the heroes
And if you want real cheese, there’s always “The Rat Patrol” TV series …

congrats Oriskany!! amazing work!
Agreed, @bigdave – and thanks very much @toricova! 😀
Great summary
Looks great and lovely touch for @oriskany at the end, well deserved
Thanks @normandyfan and @dags – it really was a surprise at the end.
what a great boot camp
Congrats to the winners!
Absolutely, @normandyfan and @daegren ! Especially @intelligentmistertoad – his 29th Indian Brigade / Oasis Force did very well on the far British left wing.
Cheets Jim, i jad a blast using British for the first time, and they performed fantastically against great opponents!
I’ll say, @intelligentmistertoad , your 29th Indian Brigade force / Oasis Force performed far better than their historical counterparts.
Congratulations on the award!! 😀
I should be up to speed with a general historical overview of the 29th this week.
Cheers for the fantastic detailed force structures and history Jim. I am getting through the information and developing my forces accordingly.
Awesome, @intelligentmistertoad – glad you found it interesting and useful. 😀
As always Oriskany does such a great job at this sort of thing. Just adds that little bit of polish to an already stellar event.
Well done @oriskany, made a good weekend better, thanks.
Thanks very much, @beardragon14 and @bobmoor – This team has been very helpful and this community very accepting. 😀
Cheers mate , I enjoyed the weekend coverage, it was great stuff
Thanks, very much, @beardragon14
Yeah! Now for the Germans to crush the Tobruk resistance! After that, Rommel will push all the way to the Red Sea!
I’d love to see the campaign run again with the Italians involved as well.
Agreed @dukeexeter – If I had anything even close to a regret for this event / campaign, is was that we didn’t have any Italians represented. 😀
