Knight Model’s Marvel Universe Welcomes Spider-Man & Green Goblin
December 18, 2015 by brennon
Knight Models have begun work on their Spider-Man Miniatures Game with a look at both the Superior Spider-Man Starter Set and the Goblin Cult Starter Set. Marvel heroes are coming to the tabletop and they're looking awesome...
The first of these sets is for Spider-Man which comes with his Spinderlings and (I have no idea what version of Spider-Man this is) he even gets alternative claws if you want to have them coming out of his back. I quite like this darker looking Spider-Man who seems a bit more dangerous than normal.
Spider-Man also gets some little gadgets he's been working on with the Spider Robots you see below.
Following up from him we have the rather monstrous looking Goblin Cult led by the Green Goblin. He has a flaming sword and is supported by a bunch of small critters.
This looks like quite the pairing. It's going to be great to see what other 'crews' they bring together for the Spider-Man world as he has a lot of interesting villains worth exploring. I'd like to see a Kraven the Hunter crew if I'm honest with some wild animals at his command.
What do you think of these new sets?

Superior Spider-Man is Dr. Octopus who implanted his mind into Peter Parker’s body. It’s one of those ideas that seems terrible in conception but surprisingly good in execution.
Is that not hobgoblin, green goblin is more, well, green
Yes it is Hobgoblin, they have a Green Goblin but he is on a glider.
Specifically it’s the Phil Urich Hobgoblin. The set is the Goblin Cult.
I will probably be buying into this, the Goblins and Spidey look cool and I normally like Knight Miniatures miniatures.
Can’t wait to get some more street level Marvel characters out there. Would love to match up Luke Cage vs Bane and Iron Fist vs Lady Shiva.
Punisher vs. Death-stroke? Green Arrow vs. Hawkeye, yeah I’m in.
And of course Dr. Mid-nite vs. Daredevil.
I don’t think the rep works out right, green goblin is 200rep and Spider-Man is 180rep, the highest rep in BMG is 150rep
Oh dear……..good job there’s an alternative spidey, as this version of both of them seems terrible. I know it’s not Knight Models fault.
I was going to ask in what universe does Spiderman have spiderlings ?
But then I realised it’s a comic so it probably has happened somewhere.
Spiderman with friends like powerman (sp?) from the amazing spiderman cartoon would have been a better choice IMHO
As mentioned, this is Doc Ock rather than Peter Parker. Both of those sets are taken from the current iteration of the MU, and it may well be that KM have to produce models from it and can’t cherry pick from the last 54 years.
There’s bound to be a licensing related reason for them to pick this team, but it still feels wrong to someone only familliar with spidey as a result of the cartoons and movies.
I think doing a Doc Ock with helpers would have been a bit more newbie friendly for those wanting to do a Spiderman themed game.
I really like The Punisher. He’ll be making the trip across to my Batman games.
Having DC and Marvel game cross due to same rules will be a fun thing to do.
All the Spiderverse Spideys would be awesome… Looking forward to see some classic “Civil War” Comic stuff.
When did the Civil Wat storyline achieve ‘classic’ status?
So are they going to do some heroes or are we just getting a bunch of villain crews?
There already are heroes. These are just the new releases.
Those are stunning as expected from Knight Models.
Spiderlings? Is that a thing?
Young un’s these days…… (proceeds reading old 80’s spidey comics)
Wake me up when Scarlet Spider comes out 🙂
I want the x teams!! especially excalibur and x force
So is the ruleset the same as the Batman The Game one? Should I purchase that rulebook?
Yes it is and you’ll need those rules to play SMG.
