Harry, Ron & Hermione Previewed For Knight Model’s Miniatures Game
May 22, 2017 by brennon
Knight Models revealed more of the characters from their Harry Potter Miniatures Game to MuggleNet this weekend as they showed off the previously unseen Harry and Ron.
As the key figure of the piece, it's good to finally see Harry. I assume we're going to see some variations on him throughout the books but this seems to sit him around the middle of the story. Ron is also looking rather cool, or as cool as Ron could look.
Each of them really has got the flowing robes thing going on, conjuring up some spell or another to help in the fight against Voldemort. We then finally have Hermione who we'd seen early on in development of the game.
The plan for the game is that it will launch in the Autumn and whilst there is still work ongoing with the rules we did get to see this first Spell Card as a bit of a hint at the mechanics.
It looks like we're going to be getting a card based game where maybe you choose a set of spells, or draw from a deck and play them onto the tabletop. It does seem like they've got a mechanic included where you turn the cards to gain different benefits too.
We'll know more later in the year, but it does seem rather intriguing!
What do you think of Harry and Ron?

All three look really good and like they were in movies in that point.
These are really nice models; however, I’m disappointed and a little offended by Hermione’s model. The model has a very, flippant, naive schoolgirlish sort of flair, completely at odds with the Hermione character (and Emma Watson for that matter). Rather than capturing the steadfast intelligence and courageous determination of the actual Hermione Granger, this model succeeds only in underscoring the male-dominated stereotypes for women in games. Case in point – the Emma Watson is very infrequently seen in the Harry Potter films wearing a skirt. Why not model her in some jeans as she is most frequently seen in movies?… Read more »
Did someone say Sailor-Moon?!?
Look I really don’t see this … The skirt is because she is in a traditional british style school uniform the same as the boys . Like Harry she is in a mid casting position, an they have a dynamic pose to imply her capabilities, opposed to poor bloody Ron who is just standing there like a lump. There are some minis that people really should take offence at, and no one says a word, this isn’t one of them and, respectfully, I believe that you are looking for things that aren’t there. I for one am glad that see… Read more »
Hermione looks elegant and the pose is Disney magical.
I can see what he’s saying. The pose doesn’t seem to match Hermoine very well, and the way that it doesn’t match her is leaning toward female stereotypes. I believe he’s completely wrong about the skirt- I remember seeing her in that skirt quite a lot in those films (it is dark grey, while her top is lighter grey with a red and gold trim). I don’t know what happened to her robes that usually go over it, but she’s also the only one of the three with the signature scarf. At first I thought- Wow, I love her pose… Read more »
Hand on his hip Ron is also extremely out of character
I get what your saying but i’m not sure I entirely agree. for the younger Ron sure, but this is an older prefect Ron and the pose is certainly not out of character at this point in the characters development.
Actually, I thought that they flipped Hermoine and Ron’s personalities. He’s flippant, she’s stern.
The models look fantastic. I’m really intrigued by that spell card and that they will do multiple effects!
The spell card is really interesting. Alittle heavy on the graphic text but it looks like one of those things that you will just get after you spend alittle time with it.
Also, judging by some of the text i reckon there is a “tapping” aspect to the cards, like they may have some sort of cool down or draining/buffing aspect to them (or even a casting time?) depending on their orientation. That’s really exciting as a card mechanic for a miniatures game. Also feeds in nicely to the XLBS show!
Although, as I’m not a fan of HP, I wouldn’t mind a little descriptive text to give me an idea of what the spell looks like. I’d like to think if the game is interesting enough, I can look past my dislike of HP in favour of the card mechanics but I would need some flavour otherwise the spells mean nothing
the models are fabulous what about the game.
