Introducing Kings Of War: Vanguard With Rob From Mantic
October 28, 2017 by dignity
You've been asking for years and Mantic have responded, Kings of War: Vanguard is coming to Kickstarter very soon, the new skirmish battle game based within the realms of Mantica.
Upgrading your abilities with a legacy mode, allowing for play within the mass battle of Kings of war and including a brand new starter force underway, Vanguard will be an exciting introduction to the world of Mantica.
Are you ready to make the switch from mass battle to skirmish in Kings of War?

Oh this is cool thanks for this interview I was keen to hear of this…. now to listen
Okay ….. I love the new Basileans (considering my antipathy for the old men-at-arms) this could be really , really nice. Now I can’t wait to see the kickstarter page.
I am in. Just what I need for the long nights for christmas.
Excellent. This sounds like a lot of fun. The designs for the Nightstalkers and Northern Alliance really appeal to me.
I like these ideas:
1) Skirmish linked to main battle
2) Skirmish can be played linked or with independent scenarios (hopefully they have a scenario book too)
3) Skirmish has a legacy component
4) Ability to use your characters in either game
I can’t think of any other system that provides this.
Yes, this looks good. However, I’m a bit concerned as Mantic still has at least three Kickstarters unfinished — especially the last Dreadball which is way behind. And information has been very little. I like Mantic but I would rather they complete these others first. Gives a very bad look.
??? I have been getting information about all three kickstarters ?? They have stated that the dreadball one ois a playtest problem and it is taking more time than expected to get all dreadball teams (of which there are a lotm) balanced. It is not a production problem and I would prefer a balanced game. It was also delayed by a substantial number of backers not putting in their pledge surveys on time…… You are right though Dreadball 2 is late by 3 months. The last update. Oct 6th , (which I would consider recent, as long as I get… Read more »
4 by my count:
Warpath is more than a year behind on delivering most of the new vehicles
Dread Ball 2 was due in July
Star Saga is due this month, not anticipated to ship until December
Terrain Crate. No idea what’s going on with this as I’ve stopped backing Mantic Kickstarters. Every single one has had enormous delays.
And again there is that word “enormous” .. I as attempted to point out many good companies aill experience delays. It is an estimate not a cast iron guarantee.
Some far, far, larger than these,
Certainly don’t back this if you don’t want too or if you have a dislike for the company , again, your perogative, but they are not like some other companies which stlll have thingds to ship 18 months after the kickstarter is over, and don’t post updates , they most certainly do.
I believe you are taking this too personal. And I have been getting updates and have spoken with Ronnie. Their projects are behind, and Dreadball does seem to be the forgotten stepchild. That being said, as I mentioned to begin with, I like Mantic. I like their games. But I will stick by my opinion that this is a bad look with the unfinished campaigns.
No I am not taking it personally though I do also like Mantic, it is just that you said “the information has being very little” and I took that to mean that you didn’t know what is going on, and Mantic in my experience is better at comunicating (via updates) than many of the other companies which I have kickstartered with. You do have a good point about it looking bad, as some people will take the failure to meet the Expectation date, as a serious crime. Personally as long as I know what is happening I am content. What… Read more »
Oh and I am dying to get Dreadball 2 also …. I hope it is worth the wait
You’re correct in that Mantic is NOT the worst kickstarter company out there. But they’ve done badly enough and made enough bad decisions with their kickstarters that locally it’s become a joke. My problem with Mantic wouldn’t be with small delays. It’s that the goalposts keep moving further and further into the future and we’re supposed to be OK with that. And it happens with many of their campaigns. I currently have almost $1000 worth of undelivered Mantic Kickstarter pledges, all of which are for campaigns that have missed their original delivery windows. At least one of them has missed… Read more »

Campaign info for all….
So Justin secretley wants Total Protonic Rversal? Well I guess everyone has his dreams and goals.
Really like the Nightstalkers, the Shadow Hunter somehow reminds me of a crawling Alien, which is no bad thing.
Count me in as well. Anything for new ogres. And more female Basileans. I was wanting the Nightstalkers (had been looking at Reapers Bones for proxies, but even at those prices, a full army would be prohibitive.).
I wasn’t tempted with Kings of War mainly because I didn’t fancy playing mass battles but this looks good, and I now have some of the Basileans.
I backed Kings of War and Warpath. For sure going to back this! Keep up the good work Mantic.
I’ve got the rules for the bug games and really like the simplicity. I’d definitely like a skirmish version. Not sure I need the figures, hope there is a just the rules part of the kick starter. Never done a kickstarter before.
The alpha playtest rules are available now. Not sure when we’ll see the beta ones. Not at home to link directly but Google should be your friend there
some of the new figures are looking great.
Oh look. Yet another skirmish game
I’ll be checking this out, since me and my friend own an army of KoW (haven’t played yet because… too many games around to play lol) and i really like the concept.
Hope the new Basileans aren’t a pain like the first gen (garbaged bin most of them away = pain to glue, kept the angels and panther riders and characters) because i always loved how they look and hey, they have armored ogres now 😉 I’m not a big fan of the new monsters save the butcher and the flyer…
Mantic…. new product…. Kickstarter…. there’s a surprise.
While mass battles is were KoW shines this does look rather good.
this is looking great and the combining with KoW is the cherry on the top 🙂
Im interested to see if they will also go the other way and link Dungeon Saga to Vanguard? I think thats also a cool way to play multiplayer games where every hero from the Dungeon Saga group collects some followers and start scrapping over the found relics in the dungeon.
I really like the way this is proposing linking games together and the new miniature designs are great and together looks a pretty exciting game. I havent played fantasy ‘battle’ games for a long time so wasnt expecting this to look so good.
