The Salamanders are making themselves known across the battlefields of Pannithor as Mantic Games gear up for a big release of miniatures for Kings Of War in July. Take a peek at the armies, monsters and more coming to this 28mm Fantasy mass battle wargame.

If you're looking to just start out in the game then you might be drawn to the Salamander Army set which you see above. This gives you the core of a good fighting force with all of those wonderful new miniatures. I really think that Mantic has stepped up their game when it comes to a lot of the new sculpts we're seeing for their games and these are certainly some of the best they've done recently.

If you want to go all-in then you have the Salamander Mega Army which you see below. This comes with more of those core troops but some monstrous and magical additions too.

I think the folks who sculpt the miniatures for Mantic have really got a handle on big, burly, dangerous-looking monsters and characters. They have really nailed that epic Fantasy look and I think it makes for really dynamic and interesting looking armies. The Salamanders are Lizardman/Dragonborn turned up to eleven!

One of the new units that I particularly liked from the new set was this Tyrant Regiment.

I think they look big, dangerous and intelligent as well as brutish. I love the way the lizardy scales have come out on the miniatures and their armour design is great. It's refreshing to see "lizardfolk" done without the trappings of Central American culture. That's great of course but it's pretty overdone now.

Big warriors on foot are also joined by mounted offerings with the likes of the Rhinosaur Cavalry Regiment.

There is also this pack of very interesting flying creatures. Fire plays a pretty central role in the aesthetic of the Salamanders and you certainly get that here with the Scorchwings Regiment.

Again, really fun and inventive miniatures for this army that set it apart from the others in the world of Pannithor. I also like that a lot of the armies that we see fleshed out in Kings Of War are born from one or two smaller ideas in other games. Maybe it's a hero in Dungeon Saga or some skirmish unit choice in Vanguard. Eventually, that gets turned into a bigger idea!

Last but not least we have a rather awesome looking take on the Scorchwing concept. Here is a Ghekkotah Skylord atop one of these beasts.

The Salamanders are looking pretty awesome and I love the aesthetic for them as a whole. I think the Mantic Games team should be giving themselves a pat on the back for this one! I would be tempted by them as an army if I wasn't so married to the idea of doing Ogres if I ever took a step into Kings Of War.

Are you going to be picking up these new releases when they go up onto the Mantic webstore in July?
