Pre-Orders New Two Player Starter Set For Kings Of War!
October 17, 2022 by brennon
If you're eager to dive into Kings Of War then you might want to take a peek at the new Two-Player Starter Set that is available to pre-order from Mantic Games! A mighty horde of Ogres are going toe-to-toe with the Empire Of Dust in the newest set, Sands Of Ahmun.
Kings Of War: Sands Of Ahmun - Box // Mantic Games
Inside Sands Of Ahmun, you're going to find two complete armies of Ogres and the Empire Of Dust that you can use for your first few games of Kings Of War. Breaking things down, you get twelve of the new plastic Ogre Infantry and forty of the new plastic Empire Of Dust Skeleton Infantry. Capping things off for the plastic side of things, you also get ten plastic Revenant Cavalry for the Empire Of Dust.

Each force is then led by a resin leader miniature. There is a new Ogre Warlord and an Empire Of Dust Pharoah which both look rather epic indeed. You will also get all of the bases that you need for your armies, a Getting Started Book to teach you the rules and a full Kings Of War 3.5 Rulebook for when you want to take your next steps.
Kings Of War Ogre Armies
If you would prefer to snap up the Ogres without the need to add some Empire Of Dust to your collection, you can also pick up two Army Sets. At the cheaper end of the scale, we have the Ogre Army.
Ogre Army // Kings Of War
This army comes with eighteen of the new plastic Ogre Infantry allowing you to build warriors, two-handed weapon users and boomers. The Ogres really have had an awesome update with this new release and I think they look stonkingly good. Mantic always does a really good job on their larger-than-life monster-sized miniatures. You'll also get the excellent resin Ogre Warlock which looks fantastic!
You can also go to the next level with the Ogre Mega Army which is going to keep you going for a very, very long time when it comes to hobby!
Ogre Mega Army // Kings Of War
This set comes with twenty-one of the plastic Ogre Infantry making the same warriors, Two-Handed Weapon users and boomers. You then get three plastic Chariots, a resin Ogre Warlord (the same one from the Starter Set) and then all of the gubbins.
Even More Ogre Releases!
If you've not quite had your fill of Ogres, there are also a bunch of separate releases coming your way to help build up your existing Ogre force. All of this is very tempting indeed...
Ogre Warriors Horde // Kings Of War
Ogre Shooters Horde // Kings Of War
Ogre Siege Breaker Horde // Kings Of War
Ogre Chariots // Kings Of War
All of these are designed using the base of the new plastic miniatures and will occasionally have resin components. The Siege Breakers and Shooters have such resin upgrades allowing you to make these specialists for use within your Ogre army.
It's neat that we're getting a big new Starter Set featuring new miniatures for both the Ogres and Empire Of Dust. All of this alongside the updated 3.5 Rulebook for Kings Of War which is set to make the game even more accessible whilst streamlining and tweaking the mechanics.
Could you be tempted to dive into the new Starter Set or perhaps one of those more focused Ogre armies?

Ooooh shiny.
I like the siege breakers alot.
The rest are just okay, not interesting enough to start another army over.
Fab looking Ogre figures.
I think the ogres are magnificent, but I must admit I miss the rickety legs somewhat. They were a kind of trademark for the big guys. Nonetheless I am sure I will get over it.
I love the new Mantic Ogres. After years of neglect they finally stopped skipping ‘Leg Day’. The poses look good, the miniatures are dynamic – but the dogs pulling the chariots will definitely be replaced by something less ‘cheebie’ by me before taking the field.
Yeah I really like the Siege Breakers, the animals pulling the chariot look too cartoony to me though.
They look more like oversized red orcs than ogres
