More Ogre Tribes Join The War For Mantic’s Kings Of War
September 14, 2015 by brennon
I have always pondered on what army I would collect if I was going to get into Mantic's Kings of War and while Dwarfs were a possibility I just don't like the models. The Ogres on the other hand; now that is an army I can get behind. Making my resolve all the weaker they've added the awesome Ogre Berserker Braves and Ogre Warlock to their ranks...
Mystical Power
Calling on shamanistic powers the Ogre Warlocks are uncommon in the tribes but are incredibly potent spellcasters all the same. I think they've got this model looking just right and the flames in his hands don't look stupid which is one of thing that plagues other models which do this.
I like that he doesn't have the bulk that the other Ogres do either since he isn't a pure fighter instead attending to his duties from further back on the battlefield.
Raw Rage
Adding to this frankly awesome army they also have the Berserker Braves. More compact, like a coiled spring ready to strike, these warriors are the youngsters of the tribe and while they might not have experience they are deadly none-the-less.
I think it is the aesthetic choice that I like best about the Ogres with their almost Warcraft Orc look to them. It's hard not to like the army since I don't think they've got a dud model across the range.
Do you play Ogres in Kings Of War?

I received two packs of the Berserker Braves from the recent Kickstarter. They are very nice sculpts.
Whoa, these guys are much better than the first sad wave of mantic ogres. The new sculpts fit in with the warlord and concept art so much better. I am genuinely interested.
I’d recommend people who have been previously turned off by Mantics models to give their new stuff a second look. Of course, it’s not all amazing but there are some really nice sculpts out there.
I concur with Dais, these guys have me looking differently at the Ogre range from MAntic.
Just received my Ogre Mega Army from Mantic’s Kings of War Kickstarter. I can’t wait to get them on the field of battle. They are fantastic sculpts.
Shame they’re metal, would have been so very nice in plastic.
Those do look really good.
Look much better than before, and the legs look like they can support the rest of the body.
nice.
I’ve got my kickstarter Berserkers painted up. Lovely proper chunky metal models like you don’t get to paint very often these days. Some of thd best models Mantic have produced to date I reckon.
I was also just looking at their Deadzone stuff and Mantic are consistently upping their game, which is brilliant for their current fans but also puts pressure on their competitors as well.
