Mantic Games Preview Kings Of War Releases For July
July 2, 2020 by brennon
Mantic Games has been showing off a new selection of releases which are going to be released this month for Kings Of War and Kings Of War: Vanguard. We start with some terrifying monsters from the Nightstalkers army.

We looked at an array of these previews a few weeks ago but it's good to get another good look at what is coming. The Nightstalkers are a great new style of Fantasy race that the team at Mantic dropped into the mix. I always like seeing these more alien forces throw into the mix for Fantasy games, especially when they also draw on tropes like the undead in order to cement them within the genre.
You get that sense of the 'undead' through this other unit which was previewed a few weeks go too, the Nightstalker Soulflayers. The sculpting here is really top-notch and I think Mantic excels when it comes to building bigger monstrous miniatures.

All of the miniatures from this upcoming crop of releases are going to be helping those who picked up the new Starter Set which featured both the Nightstalkers and the Northern Alliance. Talking of which, more of those barbarians from the north are making their way onto the battlefield too.
Northern Alliance Reinforcements
The collection of Northern Alliance options are for those looking to build up the core of your force with more warriors. You can pick up these Clansmen for example with some big hefty weapons for smashing their enemies into the ground.

As well as the Clansmen above who are all looking rather awesome we have my favourites from this bunch, the Northern Alliance Pack Hunters.

I always like seeing archers in the mix when it comes to wargames and these are no exception. The fur-clad look is very cool of course and I like that their bows actually seem to be sculpted from bone rather than wood which you'd traditionally expect.
The forces of the Northern Alliance have also joined forces with some of the other races from the realm of Pannithor. Here are the Ice Naiads who are also seeking to destroy the Nightstalkers who threaten their homes.

For those who dived in and picked up the Shadows In The North set, this might be a good next step. Pick up a few more reinforcements and dive into some bigger games!
Are you going to be building up these armies for Kings Of War?

Oh look, a mini for Justin…. the Nightstalker Dreadfiend is right up his alley 😉
Those look really good. I particulary like those Pack Hunters.
The dreadfiend looks a great nightmare monster.
it’s absolutely huge compared to the regiments of fiends as well
I have friends at my ( hopefully soon to re-open ) flgc that will welcome these releases with open arms.I find myself wondering how good that Nightfiend will look in one of my SAGA AoM Warbands…
Do have a soft spot for the Northern Alliance – I quite like the idea of geographically rooted factions that let you build forces with all different races in there. Hard part is getting the right aesthetic so stylistically all the different peoples ‘fit’ which tbh I think Mantic has just about got right, what with the half elves and trolls etc.
Those soulflayers look awesome mind you, may pick em up just to paint.
I really love the northern alliance models, to be honest any new foot sloggers have always got a positive vote from me!
Good to see Mantic powering ahead with more brilliant quality miniatures BUT … Oh who am I trying to kid there is no “BUT” I was going to make some selfish comment about the health of my wallet. I really don’t NEED to buy most of there KoW realeses and I could be strong and limit myself to a couple of armies.
I could! I really could! If I tried really hard ! …Nah I don’t believe it either. Those Clansmen and Soulflayers are really lovely/
