Mantic Reveal Epic New Forces Of The Abyss Kings Of War Miniatures
September 9, 2024 by brennon
Mantic Games are going all "metal as f**k" with their new set of pre-orders for 28mm Fantasy wargame Kings Of War. The Forces Of The Abyss are amassing to destroy Pannithor and they are led by an awesome new miniature in the Lord Of Lies.
The Lord Of Lies // Kings Of War
Here's some of the background on this particular badass...
"The greatest of the Archfiends is the so-called Lord of Lies, who has risen to prominence by his very deviousness. Such is his cunning that it is said the Lord of Lies is an avatar of Oskan himself; a means for the Father of Lies to escape the Eternal Dark and experience conquest in the mortal realm, for a limited time at least."
What an awesome miniature. This resin figure is no doubt going to become the centrepiece of many a Forces Of The Abyss army in games of Kings Of War very soon. I really like the musculature and the proportions of the head and the wings. The absolutely massive axe also really helps sell the miniature! Now just replace that axe with a guitar and you've got a proper metal head.
Demonic Reinforcements
As well as The Lord Of Lies, you can also get some excellent new plastic sets for your army including the Nagarri.
Abyssal Nagarri // Kings Of War
The Nagarri are a blend of both demons and snakes who were one Archfiends themselves but fell to some dark curse. They will now stalk and slither across the battlefield looking to restore their lost power and take command of legions once more. The armour design from Mantic can sometimes be a little muddy but I think they've done a good job here and they seem suitably evil.
Another of the plastic sets for Kings Of War is the Berserker Horde.
Abyssal Berserkers // Kings Of War
These are champions who spent so long fighting that they have become twisted into killing machines. They become the Berserkers that you see here who want nothing more than to kill nd maim. They also have regenerative abilities which means they can keep on fighting despite terrible wounds. Sounds suitably "metal" once again.
You can also get yourself some more resin characters to add to the mix with the aptly named Heroes Pack.
Forces Of The Abyss Hero Pack // Kings Of War
This set comes with a range of lower-level heroes for you to throw into your army, commanding the legions under the Lord Of Lies. You have an Abyssal Champion, Seductress, Efreet and the Abyssal Warlock. I think my favourite has to be the Abyssal Warlock on his chunky demon friend!
Abyssal Army Options
If you like the look of these new miniatures then you can get yourself started with a Forces Of The Abyss Army or Mega Army.
Forces Of The Abyss Army 2024 // Kings Of War
The Forces Of The Abyss army consists of thirty of the Lower Abyssals, twenty of the Abyssal Succubi, six new Abyssal Berserkers, three Imp Swarms and one resin Abyssal Seductress. This should give you a solid starting point for your army of brutality and bloodshed.
The Mega Army steps things up a little bit.
Forces Of The Abyss Mega Army 2024 // Kings Of War
This set comes with forty Lower Abyssals, twenty Abyssal Succubi, six Abyssal Nagarri, six Abyssal Berserkers, three Imp Swarms, a resin Abyssal Champion and resin Abyssal Chroneas. A solid starting point for someone wanting to really go deep with the Forces Of The Abyss.
If you'd prefer to start out smaller then you can also get the Ambush Starter Set for the Forces Of The Abyss which is a game mode in its own right.
Forces Of The Abyss Ambush Set 2024 // Kings Of War
This set comes with the Ambush Rules Sheet which will get you started with the army as well as a bunch of the new hard plastic miniatures in the Abyssal Berserkers and the Nagarri. A very brutal starting point for your Forces Of The Abyss army!
Clash Of Kings 2025
Last but not least, we have the new Clash Of Kings book for 2025.
Clash Of Kings 2025 // Kings Of War
Inside this book, you'll find all about the evolving lore in the world of Pannithor and Kings Of War as well as a focus on the undersea kingdoms and the Trident Realm and the battle against the forces of the Abyss. There are also balance updates included, fresh new scenarios and ways to add Command Dice into your games.
Are you going to be diving into the new pre-orders from Mantic Games?

Within seconds your request will be fulfilled.
Edit: If find it curious that ai can cope with demons, minotaurs and dragons… but type “centaur” and you usually end up with someone ridng a horse…
AI normally struggles with Bows and Spears too
Down with SkyNet! Don’t let them take over! Humans not machines!
Struggles with fingers. Sometimes more than five, or on backwards. Also seen three or more arms, spare legs.
I use it for inspiration for NPC appearance sometimes, but what I really want to do is learn to draw for myself.
Corn for the red Corn God!
Round the horn with all that CORN!
Blood. Demons. Tongues on bloody snake demons!
Raaaaaaawr! Roars.
This is the second Ambush set for the forces of the Abyss.
I wonder if other factions get a revamped version as their faction gets an update …
Not bad.
