Wizarding Wins In Glyph Chess Now On Kickstarter
November 20, 2018 by cassn
Glyphs are relics from ancient times. It is said that they were discovered in a mysterious ruin, by the greatest wizard in history, Tisslair. Tisslair deciphered the rules of Glyph and recommended it to all his wizard friends.
Glyph Chess is a tactical board game adapted from the famous Chinese comic book, Tales of Tarsylia. In Glyph Chess, two to three players must move and capture their opponent's pieces.
Similar to chess, each piece has its own mechanic which determines how it can move and act throughout the game. The objective; move your Scepter piece into the center of the board, or capture all other Scepters on the board.
Each round plays out in three turns; the Awakening Phase, where players roll dice and collect coins, the Action Phase, where players move pieces by consuming dice or coins, and the Reset Phase, where all dice are re-rolled and passed to the next player.
The pieces will be made from PVC, and creators Bluepiper Studio are hoping to enlarge the bases and add further weight to enhance the stability of the figurines. It would be nice to have the figures as metal pieces, rather than simply metallic painted, however, the production cost is obviously a factor to take into consideration. There is a stretch goal to replace the coins with metal tokens, however, it has still to be unlocked.
Bluepiper have also taken account of some accessibility issues, and have stated players with colourblindness who back the full three-player edition of the game can inform the company, who will paint the figures in a special, visible colour.
Glyph Chess is an interesting tactical board game, which has been in development with Bluepiper Studio for the last three years. The Kickstarter ends on 10th December and has estimated shipping for November 2019.
