The Alps Are Aflame With Piano Wargames’ New Kickstarter
December 5, 2022 by brennon
Piano Wargames have returned to Kickstarter with another of their fantastic collections of miniatures. This time, they explore another lesser-known period of turmoil from the 1800s and The Tyrolean Rebellion.

Much like they have done before, Piano Wargames are filling in the gaps during this period of history. Here, you're going to be getting your hands on miniatures for the Bavarians, Austrians and the peasants that have turned revolting!
According to Lucas Luber, The Tyrolean Rebellion is a pretty darn significant and bloody uprising during the Napoleonic period. It is tied into some seriously brutal battles between the Bavarians and the French that ended with more than ten thousand casualties. John H. Gill also mentioned the clashes in his book "With Eagles To Glory" as The Alps Aflame; hence the name of the project. I am already intrigued.

With all of that in mind, the idea here is to bring this rebellion to life on the tabletop with a huge collection of miniatures. There are 180 new miniatures to pick up from the different factions that are spread over thirty-eight sets.

For those who are interested in getting stuck in with this collection, there are options to get all of the miniatures from this Kickstarter either as digital STL Files (to print at home) or you can get them in metal!

Here is a look at some of the miniatures available for the campaign but this is by no means the complete package. Get your fill of the Bavarians, Rebels and more though!

What's really nice about the projects from Piano Wargames is that they always dive really deep into the period and the battles that they are highlighting. That means that you get access to a whole bunch of fantastic characters that you can read up on plus the regular infantry, cavalry and artillery that would have been on the battlefield at the time.

Whilst we're seeing a lot of the miniatures here in 28mm (and painted exceptionally well I must say), there are some options for tweaking the scale if you go for the digital miniatures. You can drop them into one of those fancy computer programs and tweak the scale down to around 15mm and the miniatures will still look fantastic!

This infographic below gives you a pretty good idea of what it's like working with the miniatures in different scales and how they look when set against existing miniatures from the likes of Warlord Games.

Brilliant stuff I think you'll agree. What we've shown off here gives you the core elements of the new The Alps Aflame Kickstarter but as I mentioned, this isn't all of it! There are Stretch Goals and more for you to check out on Kickstarter that include even more rebels, additional cavalry miniatures and more.
Make sure to check this one out, especially if you would like to get stuck into some alternative scraps from the Napoleonic period.

Ooh they are fantastic looking shame it’s 3D printer jobs. MMMMMMmmm backs away slowly.
You can get them as 28mm metal miniatures or 3D Printable STL Files. So, best of both worlds.
Nice one Ben.
Oooooooooooooooooooooooooow they are lovely ????
Something important to note if you in the UK and wanted the physical minis
Due to current customs laws, I am unfortunately only able to send parcels to the UK if the value of goods is £135 or above.
It is the same one the website sadly. I do hope one day a company in the UK will act as reseller for them or they turn up at a trade show.
Sounds like club’s an group order situation for gamers to get your great looking figures.
An interesting focus for the collection, Not something Ive seen before so good to highlight a part of the war not seen much.
Excellent. Backed, now I just have to find a game to use these in.
40K?
