Piano Wargames have been going from strength to strength with their Napoleonic miniatures range. Slowly but surely Lucas Luber has been putting together the immense clashes of the period in 28mm throughout Austria and the most recent Kickstarter, The Danube Campaign, now brings us a HUGE range of French miniatures.

The Danube Campaign Part 1 - Piano Wargames

The Danube Campaign Part 1 Kickstarter // Piano Wargames

This is just part one of a much bigger campaign focused on The Danube and what's known as Napoleon's last triumph. As part of this Kickstarter, you'll find a whole host of options for playing out the war of 1809, building on the previous campaign for The Alps Aflame and more. Here, you'll get access to a huge amount of French infantry across forty-eight sets with over 200 miniatures and eight months of hard work!

French Light Infantry - Piano Wargames

For example, you can get your hands on a whole bunch of French Light Infantry featuring marching and firing soldiers plus the core French Infantry. As with everything from Piano Wargames, the sculpting on this range is superb and packed with detail. All of the kit, weapons, uniforms and more have been brought to life here in minute detail and with a lot of love and care.

French Line Infantry - Piano Wargames

As with previous campaigns, you can get your hands on a whole bunch of miniatures in trusty metal or you can go for the STL Files if you want to print these at home. If you go down the 3D Printing route, you can obviously rescale these miniatures to suit the kind of game you want to play. Use them for 15mm wargaming for example!

French Foot Artillery - Piano Wargames

As well as the rank and file, you're also going to be able to get your hands on a bunch of characters from the period to lead the way. You can get a whole bunch of notable characters that would have fought during the period plus some options for making your own heroes if you prefer.

French Command Figures - Piano Wargames

Davout looks awesome and I really like the different poses. All the miniatures are very impressive and certainly get me thinking about wargaming during the period. You get that moment where you want to dive in and learn more about the different characters and what role they played in the war.

Austrian Reinforcements

More infantry and artillery is going to be coming out as part two of this campaign next year but I think this gives you a rather comprehensive set of miniatures to get started with. If you're not a Frenchie fan then you might also want to bulk out your Piano Wargames Austrian Empire force instead.

As this project explores another focal point of the war and the Danube, it makes sense that we'd also get more characters for the Austrian side of things as well. In addition to the infantry above, you can also get your hands on these characters.

All very dashing fellows although you better be handy when it comes to painting white if you want to get your miniatures looking that crisp! Those are some fun names to try and pronounce! Make sure to check out The Danube Campaign over on Kickstarter right now and get your pledges in if you're in anyway intrigued by the Napoleonic period.

What miniatures are you looking forward to seeing next?
