Interesting Terrain Now on Kickstarter from HyGround Tiles

A new company called HyGround Tiles has launched a new Kickstarter campaign for their 3D tile system.
These are hexagonal tiles that interlock together to form a playing surface. They also can be stacked to give your terrain different levels. The creators also claim that they have additional terrain add ons, such as trees and other objects that can be placed in the hexes without interfering with the tiles so you can still place miniatures.
When I look at these terrain it makes me think of that game we bought for the boys when they were young, Heroscape by Hasbro (through Milton Bradley and then Wizards of the Coast). I definitely can tell you that this terrain is not everyone's cup of tea, however if you are one of those who are looking for additional terrain for your Heroscape game (there is a big cult following, so I am told) this could be a solution for you. It will also be interesting to see if Hasbro will have anything to say about this project.
Do your heros need a change of scenery?
Very Heroscapey. I could see the tiles (not the trees so much) being useful for Battletech (quite a few of the Battletech old-timers used to collect Heroscape tiles for use as modular boards). There actually is a huge Heroscape fanbase out there, and they’ll probably eat this up whole. It’s definitely a niche, but Kickstarter is great for finding those niches markets to cater to.
They need to do these in square tiles too because those would be awesome for SDE.
It might remind you of Heroscape because the pictures with miniatures in them are showing Heroscape miniatures. As a Heroscaper I must say this stuff looks really good, like a great addition to the terrain sets that are available. However, as a European it’s scary to think what I’ll be paying in the end with import duties, when you get all the stuff you want in terrain.
Just like most Kickstarters, back now, receive all the updates, and sort it all out at the end.
