Get Stuck Into Dexterity Based Dogfights In Dice Sports’ Air Flix
June 8, 2018 by brennon
Dice Sports are on Kickstarter right now with their dexterity-based dogfighting game set during World War II. Air Flix has you battling it out in the skies but with a twist!
Air Flix has you taking control of both the British and the Germans during World War II and battling it out on the tabletop but the twist is that movement is handled by flicking your planes across the tabletop.
You get down into the rear arc of your plane and then use your finger skills to flick your planes into place so they can shoot down their opponents. This will make for some very fun games I reckon as you line up shots, pull off crazy manoeuvres and get yourself into all kinds of odd situations!
Once you're in place you shoot your enemies using good old fashioned dice combat. In the base version of the game, you need to wipe out your opponent to win.
There is an additional game mode called Blitz however which has one side playing as Bombers trying to take out targets on the board (by flicking over to them) whilst the other is trying to stop them.
This game sounds a lot of fun and something you could get a lot of people playing. I think by its very nature, dexterity based gaming makes it a lot more inviting to those who might not play these kinds of games.
I might have to sharpen up my flicking skills...

Should be played on an air hockey table for added chaos. ?
They look fun especially the zombie game.
Sorry for the negatives, but seriously are we going to get inundated with games which copy the format of Warlord games Blood Red Skies. Seriously!!!
If you actually see the format, it looks more like subbuteo instead. AND blood red skies was copying X-Wing format also…
Yeah I played this at UKGE and it’s nothing like Blood Red Skies other than being set in WWII.
Blood Red Skies is by no means a new concept. There have been popular home brew games of this sort run at cons for decades (at least here in the U.S.).
I’m not especially clumsy, but I thought I had zero interest in dexterity / flicking games. Just not my thing. But I got roped into a demo of this game at the Expo by some friends, and loved it.
Very simple, a lot of fun and a great team game. I recommend it.
Both of those look fun.
I played a flicking game with a friend at a Spiel Expo some years ago. It was made of wooden pieces and had some obstacles on the board.
It was a blast !
I’m quite terrible at dex based games. I couldn’t get a bomber to land on a target if I picked it up and placed it there.
these looks quite good!
