Infinity Sneak Peek: Check Out The Bakunin Moderators!
February 16, 2017 by dignity
We've got a fantastic sneak peek for you today for Infinity as we train our peepers on the Moderators from the Bakunin.
Here's a bit more about them...
"Moderators are Bakunin’s tactical law enforcement unit, and their task is to present a credible response to critical situations of all kinds. Moderators have the authority to take on military security missions, defensive combat operations, and counter-terrorism actions."
Inside the set, you're going to get four miniatures, the basic line infantry of the Nomad faction and the Bakunin Jurisdictional Command. You will be able to get your hands on the models around the middle of March!
Let us know what you think of them below...
Too freaking sexy! Love these models!
Must be an intended reference to del Toro’s Collector. After all the old Moderator sniper was an hommage to one of the Ghost in the Shell guys. I can see why Nomads and Bakunin for him, Moderators though I don’t. One of the least exciting units to me – concerning background, stats and looks.
Sculpting seems nice as usual. Though some poses don’t work for me. Especially our Collector sniper. Can’t have everything I guess.
Real good call on the Collector. It seemed familiar to me ! thanks
@hallock actually, it seems like CB did way more Guardians side character references than just the Collector here. Moderators of the Galaxy so to speak. Making the unit choice completely plausibe for me. Yay!
Excellent, my evil plan is coming along nicely. A friend and I have a themed scenario we are collecting toward. Your entire list has to be composed of troops that are AVA: Total. All these new Moderator models are making my force look so much cooler, because I’ll be able to rely less on duplicates and proxies. @darnast I like the Moderators because of the fact that they are a ‘backbone’ unit. I don’t like to use order-generating “cheerleader” units that hide at the back and do nothing. With the Moderators I get troops that can do anything I need… Read more »
@engineseer wow, that’s a freaky take on the game. That I like. Would give me a hard time though, since I like elite troops so much. I also don’t like Order monkeys, but it seemed like a key approach to the game. Never played a single sectorial so never used links. I mean at some point you must leave some guys standing around in order to achieve things. And the not particularly good stats always seemed to play against me. It really is a game of hard choices for me unlike any other I know. Anyway, I’d like to like… Read more »
The idea for the scenario came from wondering why a unit would be listed as AVA: Total and we decided that was because they were the mainstay units that are most common throughout the faction. From the fluff, it basically says that the Moderators are the State Police of Bakunin and they are called in to resolve civil disruptions and criminal activity. Most Infinity games involve Black Ops teams that were hand-picked by the Operations Commander to do some sort of covert infiltration. But what if you did a “day in the life” scenario where the elite superstars aren’t available… Read more »
@enginseer I can absolutely understand this, find the idea reasonable and the restrictions interesting to deal with. Also, when every side is bound to this it ought to give the whole game a distinctly different balance as everybody has to manage with only the lowly average rabble at their command (not being very serious here – compared to the normal citizen these units are of course extremely capable and highly trained operatives). Makes it more raw and basic I reckon. Yet only one or two unit types is really a tough deal. Then again, the exact individual equipment and slight… Read more »
I agree with you about Infinity being a game of hard choices. That’s the main reason why I love the game so much. Every time I play I’m faced with “No plan survives contact with the enemy.” I’ve had turns where bad rolls and casualties forced me to improv and make new plans on what seemed like every other order. o_0
They make some great models except they almost never give people goggles or helmets that cover peoples eyes!
Well, big deception for me… Then again, after seeing the new bakunin starter, I expected something like that… The old moderators use to be fun, different. These are too serious and at the same time unrealistic. Skirts? The poses are boring…
love these guys, love the fluff and love the art direction.
the skirts are a very cool choice that add a good deal of style to the miniatures.
