Shut Up & Sit Down Play Infinity!
July 23, 2016 by brennon
Straying deftly into the world of miniature wargaming the team at Shut Up & Sit Down have sat down to play a game that has caught their attention, Infinity. It's easy to see why considering how many of you guys like it too!
It's Yu Jing versus the Combined Army in their Let's Play that you can watch above where they play out a modified scenario from Corvus Belli.
Also it should be noted that they're playing on an awesome tabletop designed for them by Battle Systems.
The Let's Play is pretty funny and certain shows off the crazy ways Infinity can explode into frenetic action. I'm sure you'd have some tactical thoughts for the guys who played this game so if you do drop them in the comments below.
Give it a watch and send them some BoW love!

Generally speaking, I’ve tended to avoid Shut Up and Sit Down videos because they try to inject humour into them, 90% of which I don’t find particularly funny but that does get in the way of the actual review. But this video is definitely worth watching for that table alone. If anyone hasn’t had any experience of battle systems it’s phemomenal stuff and this is really making me want to go and pick up the post apoc set.
FYI Shut Up and Sit Down’s written game reviews are still worthy of a read.
Well, to each his own… I don’t always agree with them, but I rather prefer their humor to the dryness of the articles.
What would you prefer ? A review of some guy who presents the facts and reads the rulebook, of a video of guys having fun with a game ?
If the humour is getting in the way of the play demo, then I prefer the latter. Their Imperial Assault video was highly unwatchable for this reason.
Very nice table indeed. Watching this tonight…
I watched it last night – good game, but they are trying too hard to be ‘cool’ when they are just geeks like all of us! Geeks rule.
However, I will try a few more of their vids. @elromanozo is right, I have seen worse. Way worse. Nice minis too.
Some rules errors, so would not learn to play from ths video if you are new to the game. But a great video that captures the fun if the game and the principle its built on. If you like the look i highly recomend this game. Also they are using some of the oldest minis in the range and the models have got better and better.
To be honest, I’m not sure casual gamers can play Infinity without making mistakes. The rules are kind of involved… 😉
Everyone makes mistakes, even Carlos and Kilian make mistakes in their battle reports.
Another bulls-eye! It is not a ‘casual’ game by any means. However, once you have the hang of it – it plays so well.
it might not be perfect, but they did manage to show off the basics of Infinity in much of the same way the Infinity battlereports over here did.
Great vid.
Whilst I have significant much respect for their boardgame reviews (and enjoy their humour), I find their (possibly past) ignorance towards miniature games to be a turn off.
Specifically when they were first getting into infinity they made a statement along the lines of: “unlike other miniature games which are just an excuse to push toy soldiers around, infinity actually has a balanced and competitive ruleset”. I know miniature games arent really their scene, but statements that wrong should definitely be avoided.
I think this was a jab at the games of Games Workshop.
I hope so!
super good video 🙂
love the table guys.
It was a nice enjoyable video, hope to see more.
That was a very entertaining battle report. And despite the frantic action and occasional rules error (which honestly even the veterans make) it was easy to follow what was going on. In that sense better than some of the reports I’ve seen.
I hope they will do more of these.
good to see these board game guys getting into infinity .
they said their community is excited , so great job getting infinity out to folks who may not otherwise be exposed to it.
capitals go at the start of a sentence.
I love these guys, and though I haven’t played Infinity, I loved that battle report. It made me want to crack open the Operation Ice Storm box I’ve got and actually make the effort to learn how to play the game.
YOU HAVEN’T OPENED IT YET! (attack of the vapours and put the back of the hand to the forehead)
Ha ha!
Actually, I have opened it, had a very excited look at all the stuff inside, and then packed it away again as I got swamped with all sorts of other (non-hobby) stuff.
I’d love the opportunity to get it open again and do something with it though!
i DO hope for a deal that lets get the new stuff without the old one for those like me who have already spent like 600 quids on battle system’s scifi set…..
£600 – so, you are just a part-time player? However, with such awesome minis and terrain you just can’t help yourself…
Battlesystems is pretty awesome. I’m looking at that table and wishing I backed the post apoc campaign.
