New May Releases For INFINITY From Corvus Belli
April 23, 2018 by crew
This month we have some spectacular new releases from Corvus Belli for Infinity.
Caledonian Mormaers With HMG / Caledonian Highlander Army / Ariadna
“Dileas Gu Bas” (Loyal until Death). Gaelic motto of the First Regiment of Caledonian Mormaers.
In a society like the Caledonians, in which Teseum is the base of clan power, the ostentatious display of this neomaterial is a symbol of both political and military power. For that reason, the Mormaers are the elite of the Caledonian Army. Their armour contains an amount of such incredibly pure Teseum that it offers a protection superior to most of the body armour of the Sphere.
The production cost for one of these suits of armour is so high that very few in Ariadna can afford to have it. And the same is true of their weapons, whose ammunition is worth a king’s ransom. It could be said that the Mormaers’ identity is based on Teseum.
Gabriel DeFersen / Military Orders / PanOceania
“He neither gives nor asks for respite! Kill them all and God will recognize his own!” Attributed to Father-Officer De Fersen, Hessen’s Horns Action, Paradiso.
Gabriele de Fersen was a successful young programmer who led a depraved life full of excess. But after suffering a spectacular nautical accident which almost cost him his life, he rethought his behaviour. De Fersen found God and decided to apply for admission to the Holy Order of the Temple.
The Order offered him a way to sanctify his longing for action, dedicating himself to the work of the Lord and also a way to apply his technical skills in His service. De Fersen delivered himself body and soul to his training for holy war in the difficult Santiago of Neoterra Instruction Monastery in Aquila.
Hakims, Special Medical Assistance Group / Ramah Taskforce / Haqqislam
The Hakims compose a rescue and recovery special unit. The members of this team have received an intense and strict instruction as their operative environment is so dangerous that it doesn’t give second chances.
Tankō Zensenbutai / Japanese Secessionist Army / NA-2
“When defeat seems inevitable, then you must counterattack.” Yamamoto Tsunetomo, Hagakure: The Book of the Samurai.
For the JSA, the Uprising signified an alarming drain of trained, elite troops such as the Haramaki. Faced with unsustainable losses, the Japanese High Command pulled the trigger on an intensive recruitment and training program aimed at replacing battle casualties. Dojos across the country relaxed their qualifying standards and training camps were filled with martial artists that would otherwise have been turned away as prospective Haramaki. But their needs required it, considering Japan was on the brink of collapse.
To compound matters, quality craftsmanship suffered a similar hit, especially with the loss of Kuraimori, so a new light powered armour had to be designed. The new models sacrificed some performance for the sake of modularity and ease of maintenance to accommodate the supply constraints of a besieged military. To compensate, High Command furnished this new unit with upgraded weaponry, a cheaper alternative to powered armour. As per JSA tradition, the new unit was named after their novel armour model, and so the Tankō was born to uphold the operational role formerly filled by the Haramaki: that of a frontline, close-combat regiment.
Much like their predecessors, Tankō tend to hail from working-class families and provincial dojos of little note. They have a reputation as boisterous and haughty, always quick to flaunt their acquired samurai status—to the continued chagrin of the solemn bushi-born Domaru. Accustomed to the scarcity of replacement parts, the Tankō have pushed the possibilities of their modular armour to an extreme, and they have become infamous for their habit of diverting or downright stealing supply shipments.
As a result, no two armour suits in the Tankō Zensenbutai have the exact same configuration and adornments. But, despite their motley appearance, these troops are the true samurai and would never shirk their duty at the vanguard of every JSA offensive. By design and by character, the Tankō Zensenbutai is an absolutely lethal shock force, battle-hardened by their constant presence where the fight is fiercest and courage is compulsory.
Zoe & Pi-Well, Special Clockmakers Team / Bakunin Jurisdictional Command / Nomads
Zoe is difficult, brilliant, fickle and, at times, unendurable. Rumour has it that the Team tolerates her for her talent only, and she certainly exhibits the bluntness and blindness to social cues stereotypical of engineers. From her stint as a runaway, and perhaps her natural disposition, she tends to keep to herself.
She speaks sparsely, walks softly and, although she rarely raises her voice, she has never lost an argument. Zoe’s physical features are in constant flux as she experiments with modular implants and augmentations to stave off the disease eating away at her body.
Like many fugitives and despite her noteworthy appearance, she has a knack for blending in, for merging with a crowd, a talent that can come in handy on the field and one that she might need to employ again: the Khruleffs have a reputation for never leaving a job half done, and Zoe herself has no intention of leaving her parents unavenged.
Prowlers / Bakunin Jurisdictional Command / Nomads
Bakunin’s Military Jurisdictional Command has partitioned its Special Operations Command into several units with discrete operational functions. Unlike Zeros, whose subtlety- based approach is best suited for advanced recon and intelligence gathering, the Special Action Service flaunts an aggressive, no-holds-barred tactical approach.
Prowlers specialize in ‘surgical strikes’, which they perform autonomously, with little support from their main military force. They have quickly forged a reputation for their nearly super-human aptitude in operations behind enemy lines. With their uncompromising operational profile, Prowlers have also seen action as a very effective frontline infantry unit.
What are you looking forward to most?
The Tankos look great, they remind me of the 3 guys from” Big trouble in little China”
Not so fond of Pi-Well but Zoe more than makes up for it! The Hakims look great as well 😀
Infinity looks super awesome game system
New Pi-Well is much more believable as an S2 model than the the original sculpt. Although I like both old and new versions of these two.
A really strong month; I’ll be getting that new Pi-Well set and probably the Tanko’s as well.
firstly the lay out this month is much better. now to business. the mormaer HMG looks like a right handful, very cool sculpt. DeFersen is a nice sculpt, i’m a fan of the old sculpt but he’s a little small now. made perfect sense to bring him inline with Joan and the Hospitaller to round out a fantastic looking fireteam. i like Zoe, especially pose. all attitude with a casual cool left leg and gun that says she just doesn’t care. love Pi well. the Tanko’s are the show stoppers for me though, from the individual armour through to those… Read more »
Some interesting figure’s their.
I love the look of the nomad and lil robot. so cute 🙂
So… I was looking through these and thought… well, my wallet is safe this month.
Then come the Tankos. Yes, I understand the complaints about the big hats, etc., but the way they can link with other forces in the new JSA, these guys are going to be monsters on the table.
