But mines can indeed be very annoying and hilariously funny.
During one game we had some sort of Mexican standoff with mines. We each had an infiltrator with mines standing on either side of a billboard. We both placed mines at the corner.
And then it was a game of chicken. Whoever moved first would be first to die.
During a game against a friend’s Ariadna forces, one of my Zeroes got jumped by a full squad of Antipodes. 🙁 Knowing that she would not be able to lay a glove on them in the resulting Close Combat, her ARO was to drop an anti-personnel mine at her feet. Her death was as messy as it was inevitable. But when those dogs went to move next, then mine detonated and took out two of them. 🙂 🙂 A far better result than the Zero would have achieved in close combat. Since then it has almost become a running joke… Read more »
mines can’t be relied on as the other player can deactivate them or steal then for themselves. you could try and control the other player in to kill zones with them?
that’s exactly why you’re using them.
They’re not direct threats.
They force your opponent to react to your plan.
You can see that in this video again.
In order to deactivate the mine he’s had to spend at least one order that he can’t use on taking an objective.
*grins* … I’m starting to really like this game.
Shooting stuff ? nope, I’ll make it ‘mine’ …
two camo markers at deployment , mine or mine layer ?
speed bumps , can be a lot less orders to place than to deal with.
I think its about how and when you use them and how difficult that is to deal with resource wise for your opponent .
shoot that minesweeper and/or bring your own .
awesome video guys , hope we end up with a massive catalogue of infinity content for people to learn from.
ultimately , ITS scenarios would be great .
any of the other beasts of war crew not fancy infinity ?
@limburger nice to see you , did you settle on a paint scheme yet?
@bucketknight and @enginseer your suicidal and cinematic use of mines is awesome.
no design yet, haven’t had a chance to do much thinking either.
And articles like this make me wonder if a hacker/mine laying focused force is (a) possible and (b) fun to play.
I think it would be possible as long as you don’t go too far with it .the variety of opponents and missions along with availability and cost would be a natural barrier. you would have to be cleaver about it .
