Hot Infinity Releases For February!
February 25, 2016 by dignity
It's that moment of the month where we get to check out what's new from Infinity for the end of February and the beginning of March. There are some fantastic pieces once again to bolster your armies with so check them out and tell us your favourites...
Devil Dog Teams
The 2nd Assault Battery of the USAMC with Ariadna gets themselves a new unit which is no stranger to hard work out in the field. These are some hard as nails troopers who leap into the fray looking for a good scrap. Here's what one of them had to say...
"That chiming sound you hear isn’t rain, its projectiles. Outside, a hell has been unleashed made of fire and bullets. You call it war. I call it duty. Today is a work day for me. I’m going out into that chaos of death to destroy the enemy, because I must do it for my country and for the Corps.
It doesn’t matter how bad it gets, my post is on the front line of combat. A battle cannot be won from a safe position. They don’t give you the Purple Heart for staying inside a landing craft. Medals mean victories and victories are achieved by giving everything. I will not say: “Yes, I will die for my country”, instead I will stubbornly insist that the enemy die for his.
And for that I will use all the weapons the Marine Corps has given me and even my own claws and teeth if necessary. I know that every time I enter combat Death is coming for me. But He will have to be quick and skillful if He wants to catch me. Because I am a warrior. I am one of the few and the proud. I am an USAriadna Marine."
Armand "Le Muet" Freelance Killer
The Mercenaries get themselves a proper deadly killer this time around with a penchant for delivering a bullet right between the eyes at long range. This model was an ITS prize at one point and now will be able to take to your own battlefield to demonstrate his skills.
"All you need to know is that you are one of the most dangerous individuals in the Sphere. You are a professional and a virtuoso, and your impeccable skills are on offer for anyone with the money to pay for them.
You also happen to love music, and you are the only person in the universe who thinks you can half decently play that blasted harpset you take with you everywhere…"
Hector - Homerid Champion
ALEPH build on the power of the Steel Phalanx with this mighty warrior. Keeping with the traditional of Greek mythology running through this faction he comes with a rather classic looking sword and a wonderful Tinbot who is trying to follow in his masters footsteps...
"Nobody could argue against this nomination: not just for his track record but also for his own skills. The way he carries himself, his firm glance and toughness convey self-confidence and an inner strength forged in battle after battle, as if he were an ancient warrior far from home.
However, it is his charisma and intelligence when devising tactics and putting them into practice that has helped him earn his position as a leader of the Steel Phalanx. Hector is capable of analyzing any possible situation that arises on the battlefield instantly, and is completely relentless when the time comes to engage the enemy in combat. He is the true warrior/strategist that ALEPH needs to destroy the EI."
Corregidor Bandits
The Nomads head out on the trail for the Corregidor Jurisdictional Command with these new Bandits. Invisible spectres when at work they protect the community on the road from threats both large and small. The shamans of each tribe choose from the young to host this guardian spirit .
In reality behind all the mysticism these are secretly trained agents with a penchant for using narcotic herbs which will imbue the man with a sense of invincibility. It's pretty awesome to see the High Sci-Fi of Infinity delving into this degree of myth and legend with their factions.
Su-Jian - Immediate Action Unit
You saw this model earlier in the week as it serves the Yu Jing and the Imperial Service within it. Known as "The Swift Sword" this is a tactical and technical jewel in the crown of the faction.
As you can see it has two modes or as they call it, variable morphology. Would you prefer your IAU being in combat mode or mobility mode?
Which is your favourite model from this selection?
Like Hector alot, love his bot 😀
I look forward to seeing someone paint up Hector’s robot as ‘Marvin the Martian’ 🙂
Alternate Wulfen sculpts?
Fielding Hector, Achilles, and Patroclus in the same force could get a bit awkward…
A little disappointed that the new Devil Dog team uses a duplicate antipode, but otherwise it looks good. Whether not not I grab myself Hector will probably depend on his rules.
It’s the same as in the army box set apart from the arms by the look of it
Heavy Shotgun rather that the Heavy Pistol – with luck it may come with both. ..
I love the Hector mini, but that pose seems really awkward.
What I don’t get: “foot on a rock” is one those things that gets ridiculed on the internet. Corvus Belli is aware of this, yet they keep doing it. You think that is because they like it themselves, or is it a challenge to the internet?
I think I might actually prefer that version of Armand to the ITS one…
Love the Bandit and I will be needing 3 blister please! The paint work on the cloack is stunning.
Hector is soo pretty but…… cant play steel phalanx….
Really loving the bandit and the addition of camo with the red looks awesome it has a nice balance of contrast. Need to get him, the Su jian and hecter. I cant work out what gun he has though.
I like the devil dog team.
Damn, I need them all … shut up and take my money
Werewolf with a shotgun!!!!
I know that they normally reuse the same bodies for a lot of their models but the different heads and arms usually help to make it less noticable. This Devil Dog/Antipode pack is just really lazy and obvious. Which is a shame as I love the shotgun version.
Someone feel free to correct me, but the only way you can currently get a Devil Dog / Antipode is to buy the Army box, which itself is a limited release. So this “new” release of the Devil Dog, seems to just be a move to make the set available once the army box stops being in stock anyway. Similar to the release of the USAdriadna sectorial starter pack, which again is from the Army box. Yes, it would have been nice to see a different sculpt, but I think saying the release is lazy, when it is in fact… Read more »
Anyway, wrt to the releases. Love the Su-Jian. Love the Bandit, although I’m not quite sure I like the colour scheme. The Devil Dog team – shame it just seems to be a reboxing, but I did like the models anyway. More tempted to track down the Starter Army box set though and get the pistol version there. Love Hector and the Tinbot, although I think I’d have prefered the sword arm to somehow be different. Armand – nice to have the option to get what was a limited release? Sculpt seems fine, although I don’t feel any compulsion to… Read more »
Why oh why can’t I just have a force made up of all Dogfaces, they all look cool.
For those of you who remember Traveller, those devil dogs would make great Vargr 🙂
I’m starting to think that a better idea for a Devil Dog team heavy force would be to buy the Equipe Mirage and/or Dog-Warriors box sets for the dogfaces, and the Antipode Assault Pack for the antipodes. Buying 2-3 boxes to get more DD teams looks to be expensive though – I wonder how the price of this new box set will compare.
It’ll probably be a price similar to say a 2 remote box but that’s a complete guess. Price wise I don’t think you’re going to beat the army boxed set.
The dog warrior and antipodes boxed sets are both really nice anyway with some great models; I wouldn’t have too much of a problem if I felt the need to have more than one DD team.
Disappointed with the Devil Dog team. I could get over the sculpt being identical except for the arm swap but they could have changed the antipode up. Ariadna releases, especially the Kazaks, seem to have slowed.
True the USADRIANA seem to have taken the focus, but that is natural with a new sectorial – it need enough to get up to speed
Human Sphere 3 must be coming soon, and I suspect a fair bit of resources from CB have been devoted to getting that out.
