Exclusive Infinity Sneak Peek: Blackjacks, 10th Heavy Ranger Bat
September 9, 2017 by dignity
We've got a very nice Infinity sneak peek for you to check out thanks to Corvus Belli. Here we have the very awesome looking Blackjacks, 10th Heavy Ranger Bat!
This miniature is set for release during Mid-October so watch out for that but in the meantime here's a bit of fluff to tide you over.
"The Blackjacks are not only one of the toughest and most resistant units of USARF, but also one of the most lethal because of their firepower. They are known as “The Winning Hand” because their deployment in the AO always means a sure victory without concessions to the enemy.
It is because this unit has been created to withstand the brunt of the fighting and ultimately to put an end to the enemy. The Tenth battalion was not created to take prisoners, and this is something that their members always bear in mind.
After the battle, the Blackjacks walk among their fallen enemies and deliver a final, fatal shot to ensure that there are no survivors, dropping an ace of spades on each body as a business card. This sinister custom has turned that card into a symbol of death known across the planet Dawn."
Wow. So these guys sound like utter badasses and I wouldn't want to cross them on the battlefield. That truly is one hulking suit of armour and kitted out with more guns than I could fathom for Ariadna and the USAriadna Ranger Forces.
What do you think of the Blackjack?
"After the battle, the Blackjacks walk among their fallen enemies and deliver a final, fatal shot to ensure that there are no survivors..."
That’s quite a change from the elegant TAGs of other factions. I love it love it love it!
It’s not a TAG it’s USAriadna’s power armour, so this is their heavy infantry.
Ariadna is my least favorite faction, but I have to admit that is pretty awesome.
Rangers are by definition Light Infantry.
Won’t stop me from picking them up.
That is awesome. Beast of a machine. Love it.
Wow, I love the way the Blackjack turned out. I cannot wait to get one or two of these. Nice job CB!
Now that is one huge mini!!!
It really is cool to see each faction get a very big model that feels like it is part of the faction by design.
nice.
This fella looks like a right handful. he screams US near future military hard ware.
CB showing off again.
I had no interest in Ariadna till I saw this.
You know the answer -collect them all
You’re having a Justin moment 🙂 When you’re right you’re right.
The fact that the central plate of the armoured suit says ‘front toward enemy’ – the same words famously found on the front plate of claymore mines – amuses me no end.
That is one heck of a model, and slightly puts me in mind of the powered armour from Heinlein’s Starship Troopers.
If it looks like a claymore, smells like a claymore and goes “boom” like a claymore, then it’s a claymore.
Whoever came up with the idea of Chest Mines is an evil genius.
They even have a rule called chest mine 😉
I think this might be the first Infinity model I actually like.
There’s a lot to like about this model, that said I’m not a massive of the shoulder mounted gun.
Everything else about the model, seems…solid (for want of a better word); like it could take a hit and keep on trucking. But the shoulder mounted gun looks relatively flimsy and fragile to the rest of the model.
Not a massive issue all said and done.
At first I didn’t like this miniature but now I really like it except the weapons they just look bad.
This kinda makes me want to make a USAriadna force!
While I have no plan to start collecting Ariadna I do like the model, and the direction that CB seems to be taking in the lines design. The figs have always been beautiful little works of art, the releases are getting more refined.
On the “mine” issue I’m wondering if it could be a CC device, rather than a full blown mine. Hug your enemy close to you and “POP” goes the weasel. Which made me wonder about a Kamakazi JSA figure for YJ. Might be cool right? Thanks CB for keeping us a’breast’ of the situation.
The Chest Mine is a two shot weapon with two different firing modes.
First, as a ranged weapon that uses a teardrop-shaped template.
Second as a hand-to-hand combat weapon that affects all models in base to base contact with it.
Added bonus surprise! If the Blackjack is taken out and enemy models are in base to base with it, all the unused Mine charges go BOOM!
