Infinity’s Ace February Releases!
January 24, 2017 by dignity
A new range of releases are on the way for Infinity as we move further into the new year and embrace February! Take a look at what's on the cards...
Order Sergeants
First off for PanOceania and the Military Orders we have this crack team of soldiers. These warriors, who we teased last week, are deadly on the battlefield and drive themselves into a glorious fervour to make others on the battlefield fight all the larger.
Armed with a range of different weapons they can fulfil various battlefield roles to suit the situation you find yourself in.
Guija Pilot
Jettisoned from her suit we have the Guija Pilot for the forces of Yu Jing. Not being able to rely on the armoured shell of your TAG is never fun but I'm sure she's still a deadly shot with that pistol.
These pilots are the best of the best and you wouldn't want to lose one of them on the battlefield. Maybe you could use her as part of a narrative game where you're trying to rescue her from a downed TAG?
Haqqislam Starter Pack
Getting started with Haqqislam is now easier as Corvus Belli has now put together a new faction Starter Pack.
With all of the key members of a fireteam represented you should be able to venture out on your first missions before expanding to include more specialised soldiers.
Raicho Pilot & Scindron Ancillary Remote Unit
With a name based on the mythology of Japan and a mighty thunderbird this set gives you another Pilot who has lost their TAG on the battlefield.
With the Ancillary Remote Unit by her side, however, she might have a bit more survivability on the battlefield as part of the Combined Army.
Miranda Ashcroft
Last but not least we have the Mercenary known as Miranda Ashcroft who has battled her way through all manner of situations as a deadly killer for hire.
We love the new model and think it really brings to life the anime feel of the world of Infinity.
Which of the new releases will you be buying?
I think something is in the pipeline wrt making TAGs more viable in scenario’s which involve objectives (maybe it has been released already?), hence why we’re getting pilots. The Haqqislam Starter Pack I like a lot, although I believe the sniper is a bit of a nightmare to put together. The Order Sergeants are a good update. I really like the Combined army pilots. Miranda: I’m just not a fan of the pose she finds herself in. The Guija Pilot; I’d rather it wasn’t so inline with the bootleg (pin-up) style, which I thought would be separate (sometimes less is… Read more »
Check the latest TAGLine ITS document on the Corvus site. It’s got rules for how TAGs come with specialist abilities now. I think it’s around page 10 of the document. TAGs that are remotely controlled also have a remote controlled unit they can drop to do objectives. The rules on using them are in the document I mentioned. Army builder has the latest profiles for pilots, crabbots etc..
Agreed on the style of the Guijia pilot. I’m quite disappointed by it.
Just in case my last reply was a bit confusing, TAG pilots or their droppable remote controlled bots are the specialists.
Also, there’s details on the ALIVE hacking team. Some playable units who aren’t yet associated with a faction. Apparently the overal winner of ITS this year will get to choose a faction for them.
Thanks for that; I did see there was an update, but a quick glance (i.e. I don’t know if it was readily apparent or I was just being lazy) didn’t tell me where the updated rules were.
Lovely minis! As a morat player I’m especially delighted by our pilot =)
As to the Guija pilots ankles…they look perfectly proportionate to me.Presumably she does not suffer from edema.
Alive and the whole TAG line ITS narrative has been an awesome way to introduce what is essentially new rules. I do like my physical copies though and them releasing these rules now rather than waiting for the new book means it likely still a fair way off. the raicho pilot is an awesome scult and has that very cool classic anime twist with duel pistols. CB sculpts are probably the best there is with regards to body mechanics and they do it with some incredibly dynamic postures to boot. I have a minor quibble on her weight distribution though… Read more »
Regarding the Shasvastii, CB have said the Noctifiers aren’t going to see a resculpt (I could do without the tactical rocks), while the Scindron seems to share an aesthetic with the Gwailos, so I think they’re probably good indications wrt where the Shasvastii range will end up look’s wise.
How come Infinity releases make main-page news, yet other companies are relegated to the sidebar? I never see Wyrd, GW, Mantic, PP or any other “New Releases” articles I can think of as main-page articles, yet all Infinity new releases seem to end up there.
I assume it is just because you guys like Infinity better than other games? (or CB pay you more? 😛 )
In terms of minis, pilot is cool, rest are kinda boring and look just like more of the same.
Aren’t the stories in the main feed officially made through BoW? The images in this article all have BoW text added so I assume Corvus Belli have sanctioned this announcement. I thought the sidebar was for stories they’d found around the web. Not sure on that.
I’m assuming your comment about them preferring Infinity is a joke.
Makes a lot more sense now. Thanks.
Corvus Belli Normally release teaser videos, they seem to make much more of a song and dance about their releases.
I believe Corvus Belli have a practice of giving exclusive release info to some different community websites, blogs etc it’s a good way of getting info out and engaging with the communities that support them.
love that Guija pilot, will have to have it.
I’m not really a fan of the pinup pilots. If they’re designed to be in-game mini’s I feel they should be adequately dressed. No issue at all with the bootleg series, but it serves a different role in the Infinity universe.
It should be straightforward to use another mini (that has more clothes on!) I can’t see anyone having a problem with that even in ITS
Sorry, I’m going to stop you here. CB originally said that these types of models (i.e. pin-up) would be for the Bootleg range. That’s where they should stay really.
It really is very noticeable when you compare the female pilots with their male counterparts, eg; the up and coming Gecko pilot who looks like he could venture into a warzone.
Don’t even get me started on what has been shown for PanO’s techbee.
Guess they could do a male pilot with a massively muscled chest and buttocks, just to balance it out 🙂
I quite like the sculpt of the Guija pilot. But the pose… Jesus. She looks like she’s bursting for a pi**.
Love the releases this month, only wish the Yu Jing starter would come already (guess that must be next month?)
The Yu Jing starter set is next month yes.
I like the Infinity models a lot, but wish they cut down on the high heels, cleavage armor and the ass pose female models. I know it’s sci-fi and unrealistic, but at that it’s highly unlikley they would go to battle this way..
It’s the anime influence, a big part of the aesthetic that the game has followed since day one. Unfortunately it’s quite divisive (people seem to either really like or dislike), although fortunately the miniatures tend to not all be in one style or another. And, at least the ‘must have’ miniatures within the rules tend to be rather neutral rather than sexy-fied!
it’s anime and generally speaking high heels and body stockings are standard fighting attire. i think it’s all about stylised archetypes. the needing a wee thing that’s cute, adorable and vulnerable. while the half zipped body stocking is sexy. the gun and the massive TAG makes her powerful and contrasts sharply with the vulnerability of the legs posture. turns out women can be cute, sexy, adorable and strong all at the same time. its a complex, heavy and divisive subject in truth and a tough debate to have without it getting messy. like i said above it would be cool… Read more »
Here’s my perspective, and only my perspective. Miranda rides the line of sexy and combat ready. She has the heels, but she comes across as tough as well. The Guija pilot crosses the line for me. If I’d be self conscious about displaying her in mixed company, it’s too far. I’m a bit disappointed with the Shaasvastii… I was hoping for a slightly different art direction, though not a complete redesign. I can’t put my finger on it, but there’s something just a little too silly about his arms and legs that keeps him from being truly creepy. The Raicho… Read more »
