As a supplemental information, colour 78770, “Bleu Sali Foncé”, is actually called “Oxford Blue” in the Vallejo Model Color range, and bears the number 70.807. Sorry for the mixup ! 🙂
Argghh . . . this video game out just a few weeks too late. My GF @gladesrunner wanted to paint some of her BattleTech ‘mechs purple. I’ll send her this link and makes sure gets to watch. 😀
I largely prefer pink when it comes to Mechas… I’ve done a tutorial about this, too ! 🙂
You’re one step ahead of me, I’ve got two of my own mechs I’m going to paint black with pink “highlights” or markings (probably TONIGHT, not 100% sure yet), so I am literally tracking down that video as we speak … or, err… type. 🙂
On the subject of “when you would paint in purple” – there’s a huge BattleTech faction (House Marik) that uses purples and violets heavily. I think Marik / Free Worlds League players will get a lot of instruction and inspiration from this video. 🙂
oh damn, 24 hours too late i painted some purple on som vehicles yesterday…
although it has not come out as well as @elromanozo ….lol
I would absolutely love to see this miniature finished. my yu Jing is purple (almost identical to your, but without the great execution ;P) and hawk turquoise, both worked up with ushabti bone, and white (due to lack of deck tan ) your work, as always c’est incroyable!
Great video Romain Fulgrim’s emperors children are a chaos chapter that’s purple will be good for classic genestealer’s as well
Thanks for the kind words, guys ! I’d really love to see examples of those projects you mention, especially the purple and teal Yu Jing ! 🙂
Souldrinkers Chapter also have purple armour
I would like to see close up, hi-def, shots of the mini. That way, if I am painting and following along, I can compare. Lol.
Well, you already kind of do. But from maybe… two angles? Three if you’re being charitable. 😀
You currently have the best of what we can do with the cameras we have. At each meaningful step, I do try and turn the miniature around so you can see what I’m doing. Doing more would require pausing everything at each step, using a camera to take pictures with a macro-setting, and starting again… that would require a LOT more filming time, for a result that’s not much better than what you already get here. Also, I’m not sure about what you mean by “maybe two angles”, as I’m already seeing face and back pictures of the miniature just… Read more »
I really like this line of tutorials when you paint one specific theme. cant wait to see monochrome in full Romain.
gorgeous colour. and as for the choice of sculpt , your spoiling me. the explanation of how green and purple work together was amazing. that along with danger of using to much pink when highlighting purple. this is the kind of next level understanding of colour that I find difficult to approach. it can be daunting to take the next step when faced with the complexity of colour. without you leading me through one step at a time I would be reluctant to leave my comfort zone. thanks for this weeks golden nuggets. Aleph seems to have drifted away from… Read more »
Thanks ! *blush blush blush*…
Disco Aleph sounds amazing ! It might go with the long hair of some of the heroes…
If it comes to that, I might sculpt an afro on my Ajax 🙂
competition would be so much fun. cosplay , music and a dancefloor display board with LED’s and Christmas decoration glitter ball.
it would be legendary.
I wish Achilles had a disco shirt…
The use of green in the dark tones is certainly something I am going to try on my Space Hulk genestealers. Thanks Romain. It’s very inspiring and makes me want to grab my paints and brushes immediately, as always when seeing your videos.
