A Slavering Legion Proteus Will Be Stomping Into Hordes
January 14, 2016 by brennon
Muse On Minis posted up a neat image of an upcoming resculpt of Proteus for the Legion of Everblight in Privateer Press' Hordes. See what you make of this many tentacled beast which seems to have embraced the Lictor and Cthulhu all at once...
This massive beast is a rather spiffing looking creation with plenty to like about it. I think the design overall is great and I like the big bug eye that sticks out from the side of it's face. I would love to give that a swivelling loon look - staring down at your enemies on the battlefield.
What do you think of the design?

I like it. Very Cthulhu looking!
nice.
Hordehammer 40Cthulhu ? :p looks busy thats for sure
It’s very much Cthulhu looking.
That is not a Carnivean It is Proteus, A character Beast. He’s currently a metal upgrade for the restic Carnivean Beast Kit. That looks to be a resculpt
PP are resculpting quite a few models in the range. It looks like they are resculpting the character beasts that were upgrade kits and doing away with the upgrade kit idea. Rok for trollbloods has already been shown and is releasing in march. Looking forward to resculpts of ghetorix and tiberion.
I don’t know if Ghetorix really needs one, that and people have too much fun using the metal Feral and Extreme Feral for the upgrade.
I really like this Proteus, clear as day what it is to me, can’t wait. To be fair, whatever about Warjacks being upgrade kits, this concept falls flat on its face with organic models like warbeasts, imho.
I have to agree with your point of view that organic beast look horrid with upgrade added. I’m glad that they are now doing them much more justice with the unique beasts. Seeing the same body but with slight cosmetic changes never really made them look that unique.
There is an image out there of a resculpted Thunderhead.
No teenage schoolgirl is safe if Western Imoren anymore…
Loving this. The metal / resin kit for big P was way too top heavy and this is a great replacement, big thumbs up to PP for this and for the others yet to be released if they look as good as this.
Yeah the result as HIPS would be great
I wonder if this guy is hard plastic? Even better if it is
