When I paint metal with metal-color I wash it with a black ink. This makes nice shades. On other color I do not use Inks because there are shiny.

Black ink is fine if you don’t mind shiny shadows…
I tend to use matte colors only, and then, if i need something shiny, I pick it out with gloss varnish.

you never stop learning new techniques
What I do is use a matte varnish spray to protect the model. After, I place gloss on gems and such. I find that makes the shiny paints and inks tamer.

It’s all right… I feel elated by your admiration ! Still, I do wish people wouldn’t consider my tutorials as recipes to be copied. They’re meant to be technical demonstrations… Not a path to follow, but signs towards many roads. They’re something to play with and experiment upon… hopefully, to inspire ! I was even reticent about giving the names of the paints I used, at first.
