Bring Life & Nature To The Tabletop With Hordes’ Dhunian Archon
December 10, 2019 by brennon
Privateer Press has been showing off a new model for the world of Hordes. Here we have the Dhunian Archon, a symbol of life, death, nature and more.
Here is more on this particular addition to the range for use in your games...
"Dhunia is the goddess of life itself, of Caen, of the seasons, and of the cycle of birth, death, and rebirth. The boons Dhunia has bestowed upon her chosen peoples are many, but she rarely interacts directly with mortals. That her archons are now manifesting more often is confirmation of the dire peril facing Caen. They bring with them the god-mother’s wrath. The manipulation and theft of souls is particularly loathed by these archons, and they ruthlessly punish those guilty of such actions, drawing on the power of nature itself."
This model is very cool indeed and I think it really gets that Earth-Mother feel down. I like that you've got lots of elements of nature intertwined within the sculpt but also a sense that she would absolutely smash you to pieces if you dared to threaten her. Any sculpt where you're poking around for secrets is worth taking another look at. For example, have you spotted the little rabbit hiding next to her leg?
What do you make of the Dhunian Archon?
"...a sense that she would absolutely smash you to pieces if you dared to threaten her"
I think the PP lads had way too much fun sculpting all of the little animals crawling on her. Though this is probably the first time I’ve ever seen a Hordes mini that could be classified as properly adorable. She still has this sense of “If Momma ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy” about her, despite the calm pose.
