Face Devastation With Upcoming Hordes Book
July 12, 2015 by brennon
Privateer Press have shown off yet another big book for the future of Hordes called Devastation alongside an Extreme Feral Warpwolf for all you folks who just aren't happy with the regular old angry Warpwolf...
Devastation
The new book follows on from the story where Madrak Ironhide took up the mythical axe known as Rathrox. As you can imagine this is turning into quite the titanic clash of arms...
- New incarnations of some of HORDES’ most feared and revered legends.
- New and terrifying gargantuans ready to crush the opposition.
- New units, solos, and warbeasts ready to lend their strength to the battle for survival.
- New narrative fiction continuing the savage tale of HORDES: Exigence.
- A painting and modeling guide to help you prepare your forces for battle.
- Theme Force lists for each new warlock.
"Choices often come with unintended consequences, and doubly so for those choices born of desperation. A decision made under duress, in the heat of the moment, can lead to exactly the end it was meant to avoid. Such is the story of Madrak Ironhide and his choice to wield the ancient and terrible axe Rathrok in a desperate bid to save his people.
As the power of the axe stirs and grows with each blood-soaked battle, the Devourer Wurm turns from its eternal battle against Menoth in Urcaen and casts its gaze upon the world of the living."
Extremely Feral
As well as the book there is an Extreme model based on the Warpwolf. See what you think of this beast in the middle of an upswing. I want to see a spray of blood coming off those claws from the poor unfortunate who stood in front of it...
I think they've gone for something a bit more daring with this model. Instead of going for the more 'hench' and buff version of an existing model they've emphasised the lithe nature of the Warpwolf and tried to incorporate that into the sculpt.
I thought the model looked rather weird to begin with but as you spend more time looking at it I think it grows on you. A nice model!
What do you think of it?

The warp wolf is not new. It is just getting a general release instead of being online exclusive.
Wohoo! New Hordes book.
I love the JoJo pose of the Extreme Feral WarpWolf :3
Really looking forward to the book, doomy 3 and glacier King are interesting. Really makes me wonder what is happening with Madrak.
Given some of the new colossal rules makes me excited to see new design directions for the colossals.
I can’t wait for the giant bird gargantuan for The Circle, it looks amazing!
I am quite knew to Hordes. Do I need these books to play the game? And is it a good start, or would it make sense to begin with another?
@mkus no you don’t once you have core rules, any other rules will be with the models. Books are nice as they provide story but tend to follow on from one to another. If you are just looking at ruules before you buy you can get the warroom app if you have a smart phone and buy the faction decks your interested in.
I just want more Farrow… Here piggy piggy 🙂
OINK!!!
Seriously though, it would be great for PP to expand the minion pacts so there are loads more choices.
Love a lot of the farrow, just missing a few little bits. I actually hope the minions get a few beasts this book, maybe the secret ingredient needed. Or in the case of farrow should that be brown sauce
Most of the Gargantuans from the pics I seen look cool. Just wish Everblight got something that works for them as the other one sucks.
@manpug Looks to be more buff orientated, and I think a lot of these will have a degree of utility as well as power. Really hoping Glacier king is a step up on the mountain king.
Hoping the Glacier King is better than the Mountain King isn’t a particularly high target it must be said.
My other faction is Khador, all I will say is your statement is a lot more accurate than Victor
